Those of us who have been anxiously awaiting the release of Age of Defenders for Android can finally exhale - CUKETA has released their beautiful, unique creation to the Android Market.

The game deftly combines the tower defense and strategy genres, pitting you against other players in an online setting, and even allowing for live chat during matches. The game essentially gives you the dual roles of defender and attacker. The player must build a defense surrounding their own tower, while simultaneously planning various attacks against the opponent.

Add to that the stunning graphics and environments we've been excited about since October, and you've got an amazing, dynamic game. Age of Defenders for Android is available only for tablets with a 10" display, but the official website features an online version, compatible with Mac and PC. The game's mobile version will cost you $2.99, but for all the things AoD brings to the table, that price seems like a steal. If you're not convinced already, wait for our full review, coming later today!

Anyone else not care anymore when yet another tower defense game comes out? The genre has been absolutely done to death

    • http://androidportal.sk Lukas

Yes, except this one is multi-platform, multiplayer and is great looking with a great potential. Yes, I do care.

This is like a full-blown strategy game combined with tower defense, AND it's multiplayer. Definitely something to be excited about.

  • Andrea

So, so, so disappointed that it won't be availwble on smartphones, I'd had bought it for sure. Sigh.

  • Nick

It's not a unique creation. Like the Tower Defense genre itself, Warcraft 3 custom mods also created this type of game. I'm pretty sure it was WMW, or Wintermaul Wars.

      It's unique on Android.

  • Ragflan

Why is the camera a required permission for the game?

  • Ragflan

    Take pictures and videos

Allows application to take pictures and videos with the camera. This allows the application at any time to collect images the camera is seeing

The above is a permission that the game is asking. Why?

    • http://androidportal.sk Lukas

You can take a picture of yourself and have it as your avatar :)

Wow, that's weird. Lukas, any insight into this?

        • mizi_sk

I think that you can't download more than 20 MB game via mobile internet, connect to wifi and try again.

        • http://www.dmarchena.com Thepacha

Already try home Wifi, do not work either.

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Hover to see why - maybe it's got restricted by accident somehow.

Is it tablet locked or will my cyanogen toucpad work? Its .. ah dammit 9.7".

    • Chinpokomon

The bigger problem, is that this is for Android 3.x, while CyanogenMod is still 2.x. Once the ICS source code is released, and once CyanogenMod is updated to CM9, and once that is ported to the HP TouchPad, you might be able to run this. The bigger issue isn't the screen size so much as the screen resolution. The Nexus Galaxy will likely be able to run this, but the 1024x600 panel on the TouchPad may not be large enough.

Update: I take it back... this is showing up as available for my Nook Color. Based on that, I surmise it should be made to work for the TouchPad.

guys, i´ve played this game on my samsung and i guess the only reason its not for mobiles is that the screen is just way too small to control this game conveniently.

if you dont have tablet, try it out at their website :)
