It seems like it was just yesterday when I mentioned that LG should tend to the Revolution's lack of Gingerbread, and here it is. Verizon just updated the Revolution's support documentation with all the details of the upcoming update, which includes Android 2.3.x.

The update offers little outside of the bump up to Android 2.3.x (which is a wonderful upgrade in itself), but it does bring a few fixes dealing with Email and messaging, as well as a handful of general device enhancements.

The update should start rolling out today and be complete by mid-next week. Enjoy, Revolution owners!

    LOL @ --> "Latest" Android Operating System, Gingerbread. Maybe latest in terms of mainstream users.

      Technically, Gingerbread is still the latest version of Android. Just not for long. ;)

    And that's as far as LG would go cuz they just confirmed no ICS for their devices (maybe some) hopefully they change their minds because they make some good hardware.

    I hope the modders devote some time again to rooting the LG Revolution. After the last bugfix release it was no longer possible to root this phone. I love the Revolution and would really like to have root access again.

    This update seems to have broke my SIM card!!! At first it was stuck in a boot loop. I did a battery pull and it continued to boot loop. I did a factory data reset and now my phone can't see my SIM card and cannot be activated. Tech support told me to go to a retail store tomorrow to get a new SIM card.

    I'm not sure if it is only the SIM card, but at least I'll know tomorrow.

      The update bricked my phone. The new SIM card gave me the same error. Refurbished phone is being sent to me.

    I just got my update and its awesome.. and by the way anyone getting a problem about the front facing camera on skype, well if you guys get the update it should work now.. boyaah for the update!

    The update bricked my wife's phone as well.
    We into boot loop, would not recognize the SIM card.
    Still looped after factory reset.
    Funny thing is the replacement is on its way and we haven't even paid for the phone yet.

    My phone also got bricked. It's in an endless loop of rebooting, and can't even be factory reset with Power+VolumeDown. I can get it to safe mode, but it reboots before I can do a software reset. I hope Verizon has enough refurbs for all of us!

    Does anyone know if I can somehow clear all the data off of my internal (non-removable) storage? Phone will not get past the activation.

    So, after an hour of getting reacquainted with my Refurb Revo and successfully activating and updating to Gingerbread... my freaking capacitive buttons become completely unresponsive. "Certified" my a@$!!!! Back to my Droid 1, I guess!!! I wish you really were Android Police and could do something about carriers/manufactures that are incompetent a holes!

    I purchased an LG Revolution 1 1/2 months ago. I have loved it and all went well till 2/15. On 2/16 it stopped getting emails. I have 2 emails with cox.net endings. Tried to put email specifics in but can't get email for both accounts running again. Been on phone with Verizon 3 times and cox 2 times. 2-3 hours. I can get one email to work using .com instead of .net and pop.cox.net. Apparently cox has eliminated the pop.west.net, pop.east.net and pop.central.net. The LG Rev defaults to one of the three pops listed above. Any suggestions?
