  • Jason Taylor

There needs to be an 'All of the above' selection. I'm really excited about all of the changes/additions ICS brings to the platform. Since I have to choose just one feature, I'm excited about the 'Data Usage' feature.

    • L boogie

+10 for that, Aaron please add "all of the above" option to the choices because much like Pringles, you just can't enjoy one.

  • http://allonewordt.com Felix Maynard

FFS! Why are we only allowed one option? I want to select them ALL

  • Double

Scrollable divs and frames on webpages FTW!
(ok, actually a honeycomb feature. Does that still count?)

    also, on screen buttons!

    • malnisten

Oh wow, I didn't know that was in Honeycomb. That's one of the things I really like about the WebOS browser. Nice to see it's in Android as well.

  • lvnatic

    Gpu acceleration, where is it?!

    • Tee

That's right! The one big reason to upgrade my SGS.

  • oo

I guess hardware acceleration is not concidered a feature then?

    • Peter

This. I got sick of Gingerbread's lag so I moved to a Dell Venue Pro (WP7.5). Hopefully with hardware acceleration ICS won't lag as bad.

  • Patrick R.

    [x] Hardware acceleration

    • nerdshowandtell

+1 Hardware Acceleration that should be in the list!

    • Wam31

      +1
Should be the first on that list, actually!
It's the only thing Apple have left. OS/hardware optimisation.

      • Zaeem

        +1

Hardware acceleration is really important for us Galaxy S users!!!

        • GraveUypo

          +1 for hardware acceleration

since that was not an option, i voted for the new camera, which would be a close second for me.

  • http://www.techthirst.com Anuj Ahooja

Being a developer, Android Beam excites me to no end.

  • Ravrahn

I'm most excited about the universal gestures - swiping left and right between tabs, swiping to kill processes, that sort of thing. It'll make it so much more intuitive!

    • Victor Stuber

well you dont actually kill any processes by swiping. It just removes the app from the recent apps list.

  • jk

I want to be able to select "UI". The thing that Android needs themost is a better, more usable (DESIGNED, not slapped) UI. Eyecandy + Usability. The rest is almost perfect.

  • http://rohanmathur.co,nr Rohan

    EVERYTHING! :D
Oh and I love that the Tablet version is going to be open source as well. Really allows the Tablet scene to experience what the Android phones have had for such a long time (Custom ROMS, etc).

    • http://Tantrajnaan Robert

      Rohan shravan? Is that you?

      • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

        No, it's not.

        • http://tantrajnaan.com Robert Dunn

Dang. I thought nothing of the name until he started talking about tablets.

      • http://www.notionink.com Rohan Shravan

        At your service! :)

        • http://tantrajnaan.com Robert Dunn

Well your name links to Notion Ink, but is this the real Rohan Shravan?

      • http://www.notionink.com Rohan Shravan

Here I am, at your service! What are you looking for in ICS? For me its Hardware acceleration and use of 2D engine (in 4470 though)

        Regards

        • http://tantrajnaan.com Robert Dunn

I agree in full. The fact that it is going to be open sourced is also a huge plus. Is there any Eden goodness in planning? A panels button would look great down there next to that recent apps button.

  • awg_ilyas

    Hardware acceleration. #nuffsaid

  • Tommy

The homescreen/widget/launcher for sure. Pretty excited about the Camera app as well, but also any of the software/performance tweaks that have been done under the hood.

  • fonix232

Let's just say, CM9. Basically, finally we can get really customized ROMs for tablets too!

  • BoB

Of course GPU acceleration. Cant wait to see how fast the stock launcher is.

  • Justin

    Native Arabic Language Support =D

  • http://About.me/DarknesSx DarknesSx

    Native Arabic Support.
    Hardware acceleration.
    Face unlock.

(Generally, ICS as a whole excites me as choosing one feature alone makes it so obsolete and as if nothing new was introduced...)

It's about the amount the improvements they made not the features themselves.. imo

  • Robert

    Uh, hardware acceleration.

  • Daniel Kenyon

i want it all!!! so hard to pick just one

  • glenn

    hardware acceleration and open source

  • http://www.gplus.to/8055 hkb

    hardware acceleration!!!
    or the face unlock @_@

  • http://twitter.com/RobStemen Rob Stemen

For me, it's the nerdy one. Hardware acceleration and real multi-core integration.

  • jack

    The pretty folders!

  • CodeMonkey

I'm excited about the quick announcement from Asus that the existing Transformer will get ICS.

I'm slightly less excited by the complete silence from Motorola as to whether the Atrix will get ICS...

  • Calum

Not excited about it at all, to be honest. Still just looks like a mish mash of UI ideas thrown into a product. Where's the elegance and consistency?

    • Teevo

Have u lost ur mind. U must have an iPhone. Lol!

  • http://linkedlistcorruption.com zylogz80

Hardware acceleration and webOS-style multitasking. Everything else is just icing.

  • Eric

Homescreen, lockscreen, browser, camera, and HW acceleration. Which is almost everything.

  • Freak4Dell

I chose other because I think they all are exciting. I think each one individually would be kind of lame, but when all of those are put together, it makes for one awesome update.

  • Zac

    I'm excited for hardware acceleration.

  • Devin

Who's the douche who chose roboto font?

  • AC

HW Acelleration not listed?! That explains "other" being in the top of the list.

  • j

    +1 Hardware acceleration!!

  • Lee

No ones excited about native game controller support?

This is going to make it easier for game developers to support a game controller option without needing to support different individual game controllers (xperia play, icontrolpad, phonejoy, wiimote, six axis, and probably PC/Console USB game controllers).

  • Unhappybirthday

    Native encryption.

  • YoshimuraSei

ability to disable preinstalled bloat ware

  • Simon Belmont

Too bad hardware acceleration wasn't included. I would have definitely chosen that in a heartbeat. :D

Polls can never please everybody though. That is just the way of the world. ;)

  • Mike

Another for none. Not in a negative sense, they are good additions, but nothing that will change how i use the phone, I don't mean voice.. let's see, some kind of universal monitor/keyboard/speaker all in one dock interface would be cool to replace a few more household and office devices.

  • giltwist

With ICS on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, maybe I'll finally get some half-decent apps. Hotmail, Crackle, and even my bank show no Honeycomb love.

  • http://www.notionink.com Rohan Shravan

But here I am :) I am looking for hardware acceleration a lot!

  • http://www.notionink.com Rohan Shravan

    @Robert,
Can't reply above as it reached the nesting limit. Yes. I read AP a lot.

    Regards

  • http://www.notionink.com Rohan Shravan

@Robert, I think ICS has good UI and now we have increasingly more apps for tablets as well. Doenst make lot of sense unless Eden does something ICS is not.

    • http://tantrajnaan.com Robert Dunn

You are very right. It's just sad to see all of the work that was put into Eden and its apps get wasted. Here's to hoping the Adam 2 will be a piece of art in hardware and software!

  • http://www.notionink.com Rohan Shravan

Nothin gets wasted actually :) It becomes a part of the legacy. Eden 2 is actually a piece of art. In 1, there was pressure to deliver faster. Faster doenst mean better. And in 2, no one knows when it is going to come. No one even expects there is 2, and that is really good. When its your time to rule, its your time to rule, you focus on achieving this, everything else is just a matter of time :)

    • http://tantrajnaan.com Robert Dunn

That is great to hear. Eden 1.5 was pretty darn good. I'm quite excited about this 2.0 version now. My Adam is just waiting here to get some upgrade love.
(I apologize to Android Police for taking up your comment space)

  • randy

I'm kinda shocked that hardware acceleration isn't in the list.

  • Thorpeland

Hardware acceleration. I never again want to hear an iphone user tell me "ewww... isn't android all laggy?"

  • http://www.leperkhanz.com rhY

I'm most excited about improved voice recognition. This is by far the most important thing I do on my android tablet and phone.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/burntblackrebellion Ren

Other - aka "everything" alltho Im very interested in the updated contacts and gmail functions

  • N1-n-Done

I can't wait to see the deep integration of G+ into ICS I really think G+ is going to be ICS's secret weapon. I would also Like to see the scroll-able widgets.

  • v3nomous

The main thing for me is the ending of fragmentation... I have a xoom and an sgsII and am looking forward to a uniform experience with both and no app issues on tablets.

If that actually happens like it is supposed to I will be very happy.

  • http://tantrajnaan.com Robert

I'm a little confused here. Everyone is talking about ICS's hardware accleration. Didn't Honeycomb already have this?

    • Mowto

we don't have honeycomb on cellphones...

  • brgulker

    Hardware acceleration and new UI.

  • Thorpeland

To some degree. But not to the level ICS is designed to have. Google wanted to give ICS a "buttery smooth" interface. So this release is expected to make a major jump in responsiveness.

  • Derek

why isnt there an all of the above option?? lol

  • The engineer

    2D GPU-acceleration.

  • nexusS owner

The 2 main problems with android: firstly its memory management is aweful, whenever i check my background apps thing like FB, keyboard n all unwanted things jus pop up,even after killing them and secondly its buggy, My nexus s is full of bugs for some odd reason, n the RAM usage never goes below 55% on a regular basis unless rebooted.
I have my doubts about ICS working on all gingerbread devices. For eg wildfire S has a slow processor, how can one expect it to handle all the multitasking n roboto animations.
Its a great OS.. but is buggy, the best way to solve the issue is to categorize phones based on processing power n
then release updates to deliver optimum performance.Google must also have tight quality control on who all uses android. Its like linux gone way bad

  • James Barr

GPU UI rendering is by far the most important thing coming to ICS, (all things considered; it's also going to boost battery life by a considerable margin) I can't believe it wasn't on the list. Unreal; lol.

    • nexusS ower

Gpu rendering would work well only on phones with good hardware what about cheap fones, with practically redundant GPUs

  • SiliconAddict

Its open sourced...hopefully we will see some god $#*( ROM for the transformer before everyone abandons it for the Transformer 2.

  • http://www.asd.com pleyas

How about TABLETS and Mobiles will all be running on the same OS version!

  • brentil

All of the dual core optimizations that 3.x has had finally brought to my G2x! The 2.x series is nice but you can really tell where the OS is lacking in optimizations for multiple cores in how it runs.

  • msgnyc

Me? Im waiting to actually beable to see the source code for ICS.
Still want to see the freaking Honeycomb source codes to Google........
What are you hiding in there o_O?

    • Chinpokomon

Exactly! That is the feature I'm looking forward to the most. Finally being able to build tablets with an OS designed to work with tablets. My Nook Color and HP Touchpad work with CM7, but I'm really looking forward to what Honeycomb could have done and what Ice Cream Sandwich promises to do for those devices.

  • x

new UI, camera and the fuckin device encryption, finally!
