hi-124-6

Nothing excites me more than a new app for my poor, neglected tablet. Today, Astro is joining the party with version 3.0 of their venerable file manager. The new Astro sports a completely redesigned UI and icons, and drag and drop support. Look how pretty:

And it still works with all the cool Astro plug-ins, like Bluetooth and SMB networking. You know the drill, Astro is available in the Android Market. Go. Download.

Ron loves everything related to technology, design, and Google. He always wants to talk about "the big picture" and what's next for Android, and he's not afraid to get knee-deep in an APK for some details. Expect a good eye for detail, lots of research, and some lamenting about how something isn't designed well enough.

Been waiting for this update. I prefer Total Commander (including on a tablet) myself, but ASTRO is a big player, so the more the merrier.

If this had streaming media capability from lan/smb... this would be the ultimate file explorer for Android!

is this just for tabs? or no update for phones?

Astro was completely redone, while it now supports tablets, it is also an upgrade for the phone edition as well.

    "Look how pretty:"

    This thing looks fucking hideous.

And you believe it with such conviction that you won't put your name to it.

      Whimpy troll.

Looks like somebody over there decided to get hammered and made the decision to revert to 2005-ish web design color schemes and shitloads of gloss. That's like eighth grade-level photoshop shit. Looks almost as bad as the glossy AVG re-design they did a few years back. I love Astro but DAMN, its like dressing up an eight year old for a beauty pageant up there. NEEDS MOAR GRADIENTZZZZ!@!!!

Next up on the to do list- let users choose either a theme or at least the colours. I don't particularly mind the blue, but I tend to prefer warm colours.

Having said that, i'm really loving the functionality now. I find it less cumbersome and more visually appealing
