Hot on the heels of the Nexus Prime's blurrycam debut, Samsung has provided us a tantalizing peek at the so-called Nexus Prime in a teaser video leading up to Mobile Unpacked 2011, where they are sure to unveil Google's next flagship device.

It appears that rumors pointing toward a curved display are true, and that the Nexus Prime will share the sleek, trim form factor that we've come to expect from Samsung's mobile offerings. BriefMobile speculates that the three dots we're seeing on the right side of the device will be its docking connection, and that the camera will jut out forming the slight chin we see on the backside of the Prime's alleged 4.6" 720p display.

For your viewing pleasure, I've put together a quick composite using screenshots from the video, that should give a clearer look at the device's complete silhouette:

The release of Samsung's teaser will no doubt raise anticipation to a fever pitch, just in time for their announcement next Tuesday. You can bet we'll be covering the event live, with our own David Ruddock bringing you all the details you've been waiting for as they're revealed.

Thanks Kenneth for the tip!

    can't freaking wait!!
i so want to get this one --- if it comes to vzw =/

    • http://www.liamspradlin.com Liam Spradlin

Many of the rumors so far have indicated a VZW release, so you may be in luck! Personally I'm hoping (beyond hope) that Sprint gets one too.

    • Joe

As long as it doesn't have a "Verizon" logo branding on it, because that is a no-go for me, has to be a straight Google/Sammy styling for me. Though not that it matters, because for me with these phones I never buy them from my carrier, always buy them straight up full price and use them as I wish :)

  • E Mad

    That's a little too curvy, isn't it?

    • bees

      curved screens are nexus style.

    • http://lettersfromdave.wordpress.com daveloft

The blue line accentuates the curve, you can see on the far left and right a gap between the phone and the line. Also in the middle the blue line clearly covers the edge of the phone. It looks about the same as the Nexus S.

  • http://www.gigitsu.com GigiAUT

    WTF was that?! :O

Samsung has managed to harness alien technology. That thing looks AMAZING! I can't wait to see what it really looks like!

    • Erik G

      That was funny!!!
      WTF was that?! :0...lol

  • http://www.owentech.co.uk Tony

Can somebody tell me the advantage of having a curved screen? Not sure I'm getting the point (besides looking cool :-) )

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

      It hugs your face better.

      • greenmonkey6699

(1)it's easier to swipe to the top of the screen. (2)fits around your waist better. (3) fits in hand better, as in better grip. (4) screen doesn't touch surfaces. (5) easier to pick up. (6) uhh, what are we talking about?

    • http://itibz.com iTibz

My HTC Sensation doesn't have a curved screen, but the phone's edges are standing out: concretely, if I lay my phone on a table, on the screen side, it'll never be touching the surface: just the phone's edges themselves. I think a curved display would have the same advantage.
Aside from that and the coolness factor of having a curved screen... I don't know!

    • Tom

When you lay your phone upside down, the screen won't get scratches ;)

    • Erik G

      Most likely comfort...

    • Rock

General reason: Improved visibility and support for multi-touch for an ultra responsive experience with pinch to zoom.

"The curved glass screen fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and along the side of your face," according to Google.

    • Kishan

You get less reflection so you get better visibility specially outdoor.

  • lolobabes

It look like the N1, round edges and metal casing as rumored, darn sexy. So far i like what i am seeing, ahihihihi

  • Kevin

Apple who!? Apple that pain your feeling is Sammy's boot in your ass!

  • Mike

why does an electronic device make me lust so?

  • Sunny

aww man not another nexus with power button on the side :(

  • Hary Ayala

Ok, so the 3 dots definetelly are a power coupling (from the new image) and in case you're wondering the curved screen actually gives you a better visual experience as it makes contrast play better and outside light be less of a factor.

  • arthur

That looks insanely thin and way too curvy, at least twice as curvy as my NS4g, whatever it is though I can't wait, they better announce its release on Sprint before the end of this year, preferably this month would be nice.

  • Jimbo

Man! I can't wait for this to come out!... The curves are freaking awesome..definitely my next phone! Viva android!!

  • http://www.thegreenrobotblog.co.uk GreenRobotBlog

OK, so there's not actually much to see here - it really is a teaser... but wow. Wasn't expecting something that curved. Will be interesting to see how curvy it really is (the graphic above the phone may be enhancing it) but it does look super thin...

I think Apple really dropped the ball last night. Nothing wrong with the 4S as a device, but equally it's not breaking any new ground, and several Android devices already match its spec!

  • Ishinder

i would say the new device has similar design cues with the Nexus S 4g. Similar bulging at the bottom and camera looks to be places in a brushed aluminium square on the top(right in the video). I hope it has metal casing.
thee so called chin or bulge could also house the NFC chip for google wallet.

  • Jeremee

Hey i know the phone will be awesome but I couldn't help replaying that video to just thrust my body side to side to the PING! PON! PING!

  • Nok

Think it's going to be Pentile? I think it is. The pentileblog teased a high res phone recently. I bet this was it. But it will have high pixel density so most won't notice. All the anti Pentile folks will have to get on board since Samsung owns the tech IP.

    • Simon

No that was the Nokia e6...

    • Simon

No that was the Nokia e6

  • http://androidfriki.com AndroidFriki

I want to see more! I need to see more!

  • appelflap

What would those things be that together are better? Google and Samsung (as seen at the end) or something in the design like the curved screen. Nice teaser!

  • mike

looks a little Too curvy, right?

  • http://onemessagepage.com MarecOne

Seems great. Yes too curvy seems but i think it will no be this way!

  • Phil

It does look like a rather small radius curve. So what if they are going to introduce flexible AMOLED so that the display curves too and is against the glass all the way.

  • Stephen

Here is an edited photo to show you more.

  • me

Well at least Samsung won't be facing any patent claims from Apple for this - for one, they actually changed the design, unlike Apple.

  • Chris

can't wait for the phone, but they really need some help with their teaser videos, that was the gayest video teaser for a phone ever...I thought it was a commercial prior to the Nexus clip.....

  • ChumbleSpuzz

So, the power button is on the same side of the phone as the docking connector. Does anyone else see a problem with this? Will it simply be always on when docked?

  • Piotr

Hmmmm, 4.6' screen, folded, w/o physical Android buttons - this actually might be smaller than say SGS2 and much easier to handle (esp. the upper part of screen)

  • http://droidsamurai.blogspot.com PixelSlave

Now, please, please tell me Verizon will carry this. I know there's a rumor that they will indeed have the Prime this time, but I don't want to raise my hope too high and be disappointed later.

  • Steve Jobbs

I designed this phone for Samsung.... it was me all me ...... muahahahaaaaaaaa...... suck it Iwont 4s

  • boe

I was interested in this phone until I saw the curve nonsense. I already sport one bulge in my pants - I really don't need a second one.

  • http://androidpolice.com jselt

gotta love how they drop this on the public less than a day after apples flub of a phone release. great timing.

  • Melvin

Metal! Maybe it will finally have some weight like the Nexus One.

  • BigVDawgy

"...the camera will jut out forming the slight chin we see on the backside of the Prime's alleged 4.6" 720p display."
The chin on the left side of the picture is the bottom of the phone (just like on a Nexus S), the camera would be on the power button side on the right of the picture.

Guess Google has out-Appled Apple this time. People seem to be more excited about the Nexus Prime than about iPhone 4S, and for good reason, too.

  • The engineer

Let's hope we'll see a new Gtab10.1 too. The origial tab10.1 is starting to smell old fish..
