Updated: Experiencing Issues After Updating Your Sprint LG Optimus S To Gingerbread? Here Are Some Potential Workarounds

On September 14, Sprint revealed that an update to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) was rolling out for the LG Optimus S. Seems like a good thing, right? Not so fast, actually - it turns out there are some fairly substantial bugs that weren't worked out before rolling out the update. Sprint is aware of the keyboard issue but has yet to acknowledge the other problems users seem to be experiencing, such as issues charging and using USB storage.

Update: Sprint pulled the Gingerbread update for the time being.

Samsung Galaxy S II Sales Hit 10 Million, Excluding The U.S.

We already know the Samsung Galaxy S II (SGSII) is a huge success (even compared to the original SGS), but now sales of the uberphone have been kicked up even higher. In the last 8 weeks, sales have gone from 5 million to 10 million - or 625,000 units sold per week. And here's the real kicker: the press release expressly states "Model: GT-I9100," meaning these sales figures don't even include the United States.

Between the Sprint SGSII (the Epic 4G Touch), which just hit shelves, and the U.S. T-Mobile and AT&T variants going on sale soon, that number should ratchet up even further.

Verizon To Apple: Banning The Import Of Samsung Android Devices Is Not Something We're OK With

Well, this is certainly an interesting turn of events. In Samsung and Apple's ongoing attempts to sue the pants off one another in every court conceivable, an unlikely player has stepped into the arena as a voice of reason (sort of).

Verizon Wireless, the US's largest wireless carrier, has requested permission to file a brief in the Federal Court for the Northern District of California on the part of Samsung in one of the many lawsuits it is involved in with Apple. Apple filed a motion previously for a preliminary injunction, asking the court, in light of Samsung's alleged patent infringement, to ban the import of four Samsung Android devices (the Infuse 4G, the DROID Charge, the Galaxy S 4G, and the Galaxy Tab 10.1).

PSA: Chase Increasing Mobile Check Deposit Limits To $2,000/$5,000 From $1,000/$3,000 On October 2nd, 2011

Ever since Chase launched its mobile deposit feature in the Android app, I've been using it to deposit checks pretty much exclusively. The only times I couldn't use it were when check amounts exceeded $1,000 or I went past the $3,000 calendar month limit.

Thankfully, according to the letter we just received from Chase, these limits are going up on October 2nd to $2,000/check and $5,000/month. Hopefully, this means that they've tweaked the check recognition algorithms and increased confidence in the program enough to continue increasing these limits in the future. Excellent.

[New Game] Asteroid Defense 2 Brings More Explosions, More Enemies, More Guns, More Awesomeness All Around

Asteroid Defense, Deonn Games' first foray into Android gaming, was an instant favorite of ours back in July. A tower defense genre is getting saturated, but Asteroid Defense managed to be sufficiently different from other tower defense games while offering excellent graphics and playability.

This week, Deonn Games released Asteroid Defense 2, which is a paid version with more enemies, explosions, guns, aliens, shrink rays, black holes, better graphics, and more game modes. Frankly, I think Asteroid Defense 2 should have really been Asteroid Defense, while Asteroid Defense should have been Asteroid Defense Beta, but I realize that it would have probably caused confusion now.
