Following on the heels of Sprint's Galaxy S II debut and AT&T's S II Announcement, T-Mobile has announced its planned release date and details surrounding its variant of the S II. The T-Mobile variant packs many of the same impressive specs as the original Galaxy S II, but replaces the original Exynos processor for a 1.5GHz Snapdragon, and gets a size upgrade.
T-Mobile's S II fact sheet indicates that pre-sales will begin at T-Mobile.com October 10th, with a nationwide retail store release slated for October 12th. The device will be $229.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate card on a two-year agreement.
In case you need a refresher, here's what T-Mobile's SII is packing:
- 4.52" Super AMOLED Plus display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 Dual Core Processor at 1.5GHz
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB internal memory, expandable via microSD slot
- 8MP Rear shooter and 2MP front-facing camera
- NFC Capability
- Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread
For those T-Mo customers who have been itching to play with a new Galaxy S II, keep an eye on T-Mobile.com, the wait is almost over.

Super AMOLED *PLUS*
How come the T-mo version didn't get Super AMOLED Plus like Sprint's version did?
I'm assuming that they downgraded the screen because T-mo got NFC and a faster CPU?
Just a typo! Super AMOLED Plus will be present!
Ah! Thanks for the reply!

Behold the Vibrant++!
Or is it the Nexus Prime minus?
This variant does not have exactly the same impressive specs as the Epic 4G Touch. How does the T-Mobile's SGII Snapdragon processor match up to Sprint's Epic 4G Touch's Exynos processor?
Even though the SGII runs at 1.5 GHz as compared to the Epic 4G Touch which runs at 1.2 GHz, the Epic 4G Touch is faster. T-Mobile sacrificed processor performance for faster 4G speeds. On a practical level, let's see how that works out.
Thanks for the note about the differing processors, addressed that in the (updated) post.
I am just happy to know that the NFC will be added and enabled. I am returning mine from Sprint, but getting the SGSII "Hercules" from T Mo. I hope they drop the amount to $199. However, it is worth it. Amazing device. Thanks for this update.
I misread the $ amount. Thought it was $299.00. So, $229.00 works just fine.
Too bad I already picked up a Sensation. I'll definitely be waiting for the Galaxy S3 next year
I'm going to stick with my Nexus S. If the SGSII is anything like the Vibrant and lack of updates and how far behind they have been with them (and yes I know about rooting it and blah blah blah) I'll wait for the next Nexus whatever. Plain ol' Android is fine with me.
