HoneyBar

Android Police coverage: [New App] HoneyBar Hides The Notification Bar On Rooted Honeycomb Tablets With A Single Tap

HoneyBar allows rooted users to toggle the Honeycomb bottom navigation bar. Unfortunately, it seems like Google didn't like the idea and removed it from the Market. Thankfully, we found the app floating around and mirrored it below.

A.I.type Tablet Keyboard Beta

Augmenting the tablet keyboard arsenal (Thumb Keyboard, SwiftKey, etc), A.I. Type's keyboard is now available for Honeycomb devices.

An intelligent tablet keyboard with revolutionary context-sensitive text prediction, auto-correction, auto-learning, undo/redo/navigation capabilities and cool (and customizable!) skins (Windows8, WP7 and iPhone for instance).

Following the success of A.I.type’s phone version, this is a special version for tablets! It supports well all tablet screen sizes with large buttons and large word-suggestion font. It introduces built-in navigation keys (arrows) and a numeric row at the top, just like any laptop. In addition, we added a split keyboard mode for thumb typing (a special button on the keyboard switches between split and non-split mode)!

Key features:

* Special tablet features – large buttons and fonts, a numeric row, navigation keys!
* Split keyboard mode for thumb typing!
* Suggests your next word!
* Completes your current word!
* Corrects your spelling as you type!
* Auto corrects your typos when you hit the spacebar (context-sensitive)!

AudioManager

AudioManager has long been one of the top apps for controlling audio aspects of Android phones, and now it has a nice tablet UI.

--

Volume Manager and widget to control your volume levels on your Android phone.

Equalizer

Made by the same buys who developed AudioManager above, Equalizer also received a very nice Honeycomb facelift.

Equalizer app and widget to control your sound effect levels on your phone.

Plasma Sound

Plasma Sound, a nice music instruments app that's been out for some time now, now has an awesome tablet interface. I'm not sure exactly when it was added, but it's definitely a new find for us here at AP.

--

Plasma Sound is now the most fully-featured and 100% free music instrument on the Android Marketplace. Beautiful music instrument inspired by the Theremin and the Continuum. When you touch the screen (including multitouch!), a waveform is generated. It's X-Axis is pitch, which is designated by note and octave markings. It's Y-Axis is either volume or filter. Plasma Sound is incredibly configurable! Pick the note range, the waveform, cutoff, delay and more! You can even select between continuous mode, normal keyboard mode, and a sequencer.

On top of all that is a beautiful visual based off of MSAFluid, the same one found in PlasmaFluid (See related applications). The sound is generated by libpd. 100% Ad and cost free.

Where did you get the screenshots for equalizer and audio manager? They arent on the official market. Images that you pull, which are not on the market, deserve to be credited. Or you could take the time to get the screenshots yourself. Thanks.

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Who said I didn't take those screenshots myself? But really, they were sent to me by the developers - I credit where credit is due, which was irrelevant in this case.

    • Johhny

Whoa who are you the screenshot police?

    • Eric

Is there anything in the post that says he didn't take them...?

  • Be3Man

Come on App devs! Less business/tool apps for Tablets, more HD games!

  • Ryan

More educational apps. They might not be fore everyone. But that is what Apple is always advertising on TV. Have some good educational apps and parents will be buying these things up like hotcakes because to it will help their kids.

  • Brett

You got to add iTriage to that list! This medical app is above and beyond any other health app out there!

  • RJ

    Woo!!
    Plasma Sound!
    Greatest App Ever! (Maybe biased)

  • Doug Fiedor

    Thanks for these!

I just got a new Transformer with keyboard dock so I downloaded a couple of your suggestions to play with. They look and work great.

This Transformer is a nice little tablet/netbook, quite fast and I think it will be both fun and useful. Everything (except the Kindle app) works perfectly.

I'll be writing more about it for friends and family in another week or so.

  • DMH

Am i missing something with AntiPaper Notes?
Looks great but portait only? WTH
Lags too which is a shame, the line drawing visibly behind the stylus (xoom)

Great app reviews Artem - really enjoy going through them..

    • AGe

still not as good as freenote...i agree with everything you said, the only nice thing is, it looks great.

  • Mark

Zzzzzzzzzz....c'mon devs. Hop on the Honeycomb train. This is just abysmal!

    • RJ

Hey man, Plasma Sound is the greatest.

I've been trying to get the Reactable people to make a honeycomb version, but they haven't yet. I'm disappointed, but I know it's just a matter of time. *that's* the best music instrument for android, or any touchscreen, hands down.

  • dr.zeek

Is that, like, it for android 3.0 apps? Jeez, count me disappointed.

    • Jake

No, If you read the title, it says from the last 2 weeks. There are a lot of apps optimized for Honeycomb. AndroidPolice has at least 6 articles of honeycomb apps.

  • RobCH

Can't get anywhere trying to download the AI tablet keyboard. It looks great. I have AI on my phone and love it, but the barcode won't take me anywhere. It's not listed on the Market. A.I.? Anybody?

  • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii
  • Jon

LogiType should definitely be on this list - best typing app out there right now.
