A few weeks ago, we covered an incredible new camera app called Paper Camera. It's unique in nature because it offers amazing real-time effects (as opposed to post-processed effects, like most other third-party camera apps), like cartoon, sketch, comic book, old printer, neon, bleaching, half-time, noir, newspaper, and more.

The app is normally a couple of bucks in the Android Market, but for this week, GetJar is offering the full version absolutely free of charge. I stand corrected - Paper Camera, along with all other GetJar Gold apps, will remain free indefinitely!

This is definitely one of the most unique camera apps that I've ever seen, and now there is no reason not to have it installed. Head over to GetJar to grab the download, and while you're at it, go ahead and check out the rest of the free apps they have to offer.

Anyone else having trouble downloading this from GetJar?

I tried going to m.getjar.com and it told me I needed to download the Getjar app first. I installed it, but now it just crashes on my Droid X and won't let me download and install the app.

Could you guys post the free app for today here?

    thanks

I cannot get it to complete...it runs and runs and runs the download

Never mind, had to restart my phone for the Getjar app to work properly. Just got the app, thanks!

    Even most importantly:

Swifkey X and Age of Zombies are also free!

So... will the app still work if i subsequently uninstall getjar? I'm a "One market to rule them all" kinda guy

    • Mesmorino

      Nevermind, uninstalled.

Why did you unistalled? What did you discover?

        • Mesmorino

nothing really, i just didn't want another app store app on my phone, and while paper camera is a novelty it's not something i'd use even occasionally

first time i try getjar, got paper camera, tune in pro and age of zombies but if the app get updates how do we get the updates ?

This is annoying... GetJar website forces the selection of the device make I own first. O.K., but there is no HTC Desire, there is no Samsung Galaxy S, neither other very popular devices on the list. So I had to choose something IS on the list. Then, when I at last was given the code to download the Paper Camera on my device, I get the XML parsing failed :/

Is this a warez site? How can all those normally paid apps be free?

    • Cameron Summerson

No, it's not a warez site. GetJar is 100 percent legit.

it's just sad that GetJar app is 10mb ;\ and won't move to sd card... ;\..

  • Brad

So how do we get the updates Market has v.1.2 and getjar is giving 1.1 any clues

    • FlexiPack

I'm pretty sure you wont get many/app updates to the gold apps on getjar. It wouldn't be in the developers interest to update their apps on getjar when they're still charging for the same app on the android market.

For example BeWeather Pro is still only version 1.0.18 (last updated 23rd sept) on GetJar but on the Android Market it has since had 3 more updates and is currently on version 1.13.

I wish there was a disclaimer that stated the app only took pictures/video/audio from the device when we so selected. As it stands, the permissions seem to allow rhe app to collect audio, video, and puctures at will. I am yempted to head to RIM products just to protect privacy. Why isn't anyone concerned with what yhey allow the apps and google to do & collect?
