We've been talking about Gingerbread for the Droid Incredible and its on-again-off-again status quite a bit lately, but after the official support docs showed up on VZW's site, we had confirmation of what we knew all along: the update is alive and kicking. It was rumored that it would start rolling out OTA-style earlier in the week but was delayed for unknown reasons, leaving Incredible owners without their cookie-filled upgrade just a little bit longer.

Fortunately, the wait is over, as we've received and exclusive leak of the Gingerbread RUU from a giving tipster. This looks like the final build, as it shares all the same version number from Verizon's documentation (4.06.605.2), as well as the same baseband (2.15.10.07.07).

Before we get to the download, here is a quick reminder of what this update brings (aside from Gingerbread):

  • MMS Messages send correctly
  • Successfully play audio files from a message
  • Send Vcard through SMS
  • Internet connections via Bluetooth now enabled
  • VZ Navigator now operates over Wi-Fi
  • Change songs in the Music widget by tapping the forward button
  • Camera functions successfully without inserting SD card

Be aware that this is a full RUU, so it does require a full wipe to flash and it will break root.

There is no word on whether or not this version can easily be rooted, but we've pinged a few people and will update as soon as we hear something back.

Update 2: This version is indeed rootable, as long as you had S-OFF in the first place. Simple download the latest ClockorkMod Recovery, rename it to PB31IMG.zip, place it on the root of your SD Card, and reboot into recovery. The file should install automatically, after which you have CWM. You can then download the newest Superuser from ROM Manager and flash accordingly. For more information, check out this thread on XDA. [Thanks, Austin!]

Update: Our tipster said that the file should be named PB32IMG.zip, but apparently this was a typo. The file should be named PB31IMG.zip. The instructions have been updated to reflect this.

With that out of the way, I present to you : Gingerbread for the Droid Incredible!

Installation Instructions:
  • Download this file (Mirror) (MD5: 096d841530dd2f223ef4a1b701c7d429)
  • Rename the file to PB31IMG.zip
  • Drop it on the root of the SD Card
  • Boot into the bootloader
  • Flash as usual

As always, you assume all risk if you choose to flash this. Android Police is not responsible if you brick, break, destroy, set fire to, or otherwise render your device useless... but how often could that happen?

Enjoy!

[Thanks, Pig Benis!]

  • Wrath_unleashed

Going to flash this as soon as you let me know whether this will be able to be rooted.

  • tarman

Now how about Big Red getting the Gingerbread update out there for use D2/Global users. I'd like to fix a few issues with the phone such as self reboots and a pesky issue with the compass.

  • Austin

So, I'm assuming this is Gingerbread with the Sense UI laid over top, right?

    • Cameron Summerson

      Indeed.

      • Steve

Can you explain to me how to flash this? I have the file downloaded and saved to my SD card. I've been waiting for gb!

        • Alan

You don't apply it from the SD Card, you have to use the RUU (ROM Update Utility) to flash it.

  • slavs06

when will verizon push to all of us?

  • Sherree

Since I haven't rooted my phone (and I'm stuck it if I brick it), I was wondering if your sources have heard when the OTA update will be coming.

    • Cameron Summerson

No word at all. But since this is an official RUU, chances of bricking are almost zero.

  • John K

what happens if I flash this, and then the OTA verizon releases is a little different from this? Will I still get the OTA notification?

  • John K

Also why did verizon say the update would be 87.8mb and this one is 180mb?

    • JBO

The OTA update is an update.zip that the stock recovery flashes. This is a full RUU with all the updated parts included. The RUU wipes everything on the phone and installs a complete stock build. If your are on stock and take the OTA you get the same end result as installing the RUU except the RUU wipes and re-installs everything it doesn't just add in the updated parts.

      • John K

So I would lose anything not saved to the sd card?

        • JBO

          Yes that is correct.

  • Harold Goldner

Has any body gotten this file to open? I keep getting read errors, and have downloaded it multiple times from the main site and mirror site.

    • Cameron Summerson

What do you mean by "open?" You're getting errors when trying to install it? Or you're trying to extract the file?

      • Michael

I get error when trying to extract

  • Trevor

    Should it be PB31IMG.zip?

    • Cameron Summerson

Actually, our tipster explicitly said PB32IMG.zip.

  • k_flan

    Yes PB31IMG.zip

  • Austin

Do you know if we can root yet? I'm dying to know!

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Post it or check if it's already posted on xda, and I'm sure some devs will jump on it and make a pre-rooted version.

  • cole

I'm going to do this now, However is it PB31MG or PB32MG?

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

The tipster said PB32IMG.zip (you're missing an I btw).

  • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Has anyone succeeded flashing this build and if so, did it work with PB32IMG.zip?

    • Trevor

It doesn't work with PB32IMG.zip. I flashed it as PB31IMG.zip and it works fine.

  • Michael

Can i flash even though my phone is rooted? and i get a error when i try to estract the zip file

    • Jay Treasure

Put the zip "PB31IMG.zip" into the root of your SD card.

Restart your phone and hold down the volume down button.

The phone should pick up the update and ask if you want to install it.

Say yes and watch it load for a bit.

      Enjoy.

      • Michael

So i dont havet the extract the zip file that was downloaded just have to change the name?

        • Jay Treasure

          That's correct sir.

        • Michael

did that and it doesnt find it

      • TJ2005

so i have it downloaded and on my sd card and renamd restart and hold volume bottom only thing that happens is my phonw just vibrates what am i doing wrong?

        • Michael

Battery pull and try again mine did that

  • Jay Treasure

The flash and update went without a hitch. The only problem I'm having is that I can't connect to backup assistant, it says "Unable to connect to the server." Most of my contacts came over though my google account but I figured I'd ask if there is a solution to this.

  • superman74

That Shit don't work....downloaded went through the process for nothing....bullshit

  • steve

I've downloaded the file, renamed it, and its not working. I hold down the power and the up and down buttons, from there it doesn't find it and I go into recovery and it doesn't fine it either. What am I doing wrong? I have it renamed as PB31IMG.zip btw

    • Michael

WIht me i named it PB31IMG.zip but windows put .zp.zip so i just named it PB31IMG and put it on the SD card

  • Robert

I updated and it's working OK so far. Backup Assistant reloaded my contacts also. I'm currently copying my backup pro files back to the SD card to restore my data.

  • Mcbury

I had trouble at first and then I renamed the file PB31IMG without the .zip and it worked fine.

  • John

can we delete the file once its finished?

  • Poop Head

How does it work? any issues found when running it?

  • Mike Brooks

i loaded it and it works fine. the thing is i dont see any difference between this 2.3.4 and the 2.2.1 that was on here. at all......
its almost like the software numbers had just been changed.

    • Michael

I agree with that dont see any changed just the speed cuz i had 2.2 and some verizon icons have changed

  • fallen0127

Lol.... Many said this would happen! So you don't see much of a difference? HTC gets their hands on Android and adds sense to it (HTC's GUI). In this case sense 1.0 as our device "isn't new enough" to run sense 2.1 or 3.0. No huge interface change, nothing too exciting...... However, it runs MUCH faster, and gets FAR BETTER battery life. Hmmmmmm..... Not the developers fault who leaked it. Give them time, for those of us who are rooted, we will have sense 2.1 and 3.0.

  • incidious

Am I too late? The links are broken

    • Austin

Download link is working fine for me.

  • steve

No you not to late, the shit doesn't work, and no one answers you questions...

    • Austin

I can try to answer your questions. What sort of problems are you having?

  • steve

I've downloaded both links twice, put them on my SD card as PB31IMG.zip and go into bootloader and it does not recognize it all...

    • Austin

You've made sure to put it at the root of the SD card?

Also, hit reply under my name to reply directly to my comment instead of starting a new thread

      • steve

Idk what you mean by put it at the "root" of my SD card. I'm doing all of this from my phone, I click the link, it downloads it to the "downloads" folder on my SD card, so I move it to the home of my SD card. is that right?

        • Austin

Yes, the best way to do it is to download it to your computer first.

On your phone, you probably aren't able to do the step where you have to rename it.

"incidious" was doing the same thing as you, downloading it right to the phone, and they were having the same problem.

        • incidious

so much easier to download on the pc, rename it, then move to to the sd card. then you can boot to the bootloader and it should find it. i renamed it to P31IMG.zip and it worked flawlessly

  • incidious

the links work indeed, my mistake. i tried to download the file straight to my sd card using my phone. Update is in progress as we speak. make sure your sd card are formatted to the correctly for it to work people. FAT32

    • Austin

No problem, I hope the update goes well for you! I'm holding off, myself. I was waiting to see how quick my ROM could get it baked in but I don't think it'll be as quick as I'd hoped, maybe I'll just go for it.

Man, this means I'll have to re-install every app, won't I?

  • incidious

so far everything works fine except for verizons backup assistant but google has all my contacts anyway. if you have appbrain market and the fast installer it puts all your apps in for you in a single step

    • Austin

Thanks for the AppBrain tip, I forgot about that :)

  • Rob

I have tried several times with no luck. Not sure why it is not working. Also find it odd other sites are not picking up on it.

    • Austin

      What have you been trying?

One of the more popular things people are doing wrong is downloading it straight to their phone.

If you are doing that I'd advise you to download it to your computer first so you are able to rename it, otherwise your phone won't be able to recognize it, as far as I know.

      • incidious

i was able to rename it on my phone the problem was with the browser downloading the file. it kept downloading some htm file or a 9kb zip file. all is well now tho. i still kinda wish the incorporated sense 3 or 2

        • Austin

I wish it incorporated the new Sense UI too. If it did I would have updated pretty much right out of the gate.

      • Rob

Been downloading file to my computer.. Renaming to PB31IMG.zip, placing it in Root of SD card.. But bootloader says no image found.. not sure what is going wrong. Also tried without the .zip. Do you need to be rooted?

        • incidious

weird maybe your sd card isnt formatted to FAT32 that was a big problem for me before.

        • Rob

Re-Formatted SD Card.. Its working now... Thanks for the heads up on that..

  • Sam

Works great, DON'T put the .zip beside the name on the sd card:
    PB31IMG
Thats only what it should say, and your bootloader should pick up on it.

  • TJ2005

Finally got it and all contacts backed up. Had to download from two different links in order to get it working but its great!

  • Rob

Hmm.. I dont see the new Gingerbread Keyboard.. did they leave that out?

  • steve

Well shit, laptops down :( so no GB for me. Any word on when Verizon will push this out?

  • Jason

Loaded it up myself just now, pretty quick process and while not much has changed with Sense, it seems to be polished a little more and looks to run a lot faster.

  • Ovibe13

I am having trouble getting the bootloader to find the images. At this point I think I need to reformat my SD to FAT32 like a previous person... how do I do that?

  • Johnboy210

I did this yesterday and it worked on the first try ! Much faster than Froyo. Everything works fine, no bugs so far. Thanks !

  • Don

Can you do the OTA update once it rolld out if you update the incredible with this leaked version first?

    • Austin

You shouldn't have to. This is what the OTA update will be.

  • Robert

I think the famous low memory lockup problem went away. I have now loaded more apps past what I had on Froyo and it has not screwed up. I also noticed nice speed difference and battery is lasting longer.
Other nice but small fix is that my power down now includes a restart option.
I'm not sure if it's just another app conflict or not, but it has rebooted on me a couple of times after hanging.

  • semperfi

worked perfectly, the key is as has been said,
    1. sd card Fat 32
    2. PB31IMG.zip or PB31IMG will work
    3. wait................ done

    Thanks :)

  • steve

How do you format your SD card to " fat 32"? I'm gonna give that a try...

    • Austin

Should be able to right click on it in "My Computer" and click "format".

Then choose "FAT32". If you don't have it in that format it won't work.

  • Austin

Just wanted to pop in and say that I can confirm that this is rootable.

The only requirement is that you had previously set security to "off", as in having "S-OFF" status.

You can check this by booting into hboot. At the top it will say either "S-ON" or "S-OFF".

  • steve

Finally got it to work lastnight after formatting to fat 32. Anyone notice it had the old market? How do you update to the new one?

  • Vito

Worked fine, but the Market seems to have regressed back to the old version of the market.

  • Vito

Nevermind, just saw the other posts about the Market.

  • Justin

it this causing anyone else's to power on and off constantly

    • Austin

I'm not having any problems with that. How often does it do it?

  • Gavin

Pretty sure I am following the correct procedures, but I am getting a "no image or incorrect image" error. Any ideas?

    • Austin

I was having that same problem. I can't remember how I fixed it.

Make sure of a couple things.

      1. That the name of the file is correct. When renaming it to "PB31IMG" do not include the ".zip" part because then it will be seen as "PB31IMG.zip.zip" and won't work.

      2. Make sure it's at the root of your SD card.

      3. Make sure your SD card is formatted correctly (to FAT32).

      • Gavin

It was the format thing. I had erased the SD card in the phone, but got it to work by formatting it as FAT using Disk Utility on my Mac. Thanks.

  • Sam

Well has anybody tried the speakerphone? Mine goes off at random times and it really ticks me off! Should I re-flash the RUU?

    • incidious

There's a feature where if you flip your phone face down during a call it activates the speakerphone. Face up deactivates. Try turning that fearure off

      • Sam

I tried that. Still didn't work.

        • Austin

Could it be a hardware problem?

Maybe you have a defective phone or have dropped it too many times?

  • Sam

@Austin - It didnt let me reply, sorry.
Anyways, Don't tell me its a hardware problem cause then you will jinx me. Plus, i just got a replacement Inc not 3 weeks ago..

    • Austin

Hm, well then I'm not so sure. I never use the speakerphone so I couldn't tell you whether I am having the same problem or not.

      • Sam

Well hmm... Also since you got to root it, can I root iit with S-ON? I must've did s-on patch or something before I flashed this.

        • Austin

No, rooting with S-ON isn't available at this time as far as I know.

    • incidious

I got a month old replacement and the display uses 77% of my battery. It goes from 100% to 60% in a half hour without me using it that's just driving to work. It lasted all day surprisingly with the brightness close to the lowest setting. No more auto brightness for me

      • Austin

        Holy balls.

Do you have a lot of sync services going? Lots of widgets? Old battery?

Download ETA Battery and see what it tells you health wise for your battery.

        • incidious

Nope not the widgets it did it with just the HTC time an weather one running. Not the battery i have two, oem and an extended. it did it with both and a third battery from a friends phone. It only synchs my Google account and FB every hour. It's the phone. 3rd one since may and its the only one of the three to do it. The only remedy is to have my screen super dim

  • Victor

How do I install Clockworkmod Recovery 3.0.0.8. I've tried to flash it in the "flash zip from sd card" section in the 2.5.1.2 version and it aborts the installation. I have s-off by the way. When I try to install the ROM in the older recovery it aborts the installation as well. Thank you.

    • Austin

When you download CWM 3.0.0.8 are you downloading it to your computer first? If not, make sure to do that.

Also, you have to rename the zip to "PB31IMG", like you will have to do to the GB rom once you get to that step.

Once you've downloaded CWM 3.0.0.8 to your computer rename it to "PB31IMG". Don't include ".zip" at the end when renaming otherwise the phone will see it as "PB31IMG.zip.zip" and not use it.

Once renamed put it at the root of your SD card and then try again.

If that doesn't work try 3.0.0.7.

If none of that works let me know.

      • Victor

I've downloaded it to my computer, but because it is a Mac if I delete the extension it will not be a zip file anymore. Anyway I have tried it both ways with and without .zip and it is not recognized by the bootloader and cannot be installed using the recovery. I tried as well 3.0.0.7. I have a custom ROM installed, although I tried this ROM before installing the custom one. How long does it take for the bootloader to find it? I believe if I have s-off it should recognize it.
        Thank you for your help.

  • Adrian

I keep getting an error I don't know what it is it goes off too quick it just won't install. I've downloaded it multiple times. Done everything everyone says. I'm done, let me know if the dicks at Verizon ever decided to realease the OTA version.

    • Austin

Can you give more detail? At what part does it fail? What exactly is happening?

Are you making sure to rename it "PB31IMG" and placing it at the root of the SD card?

  • Sam

@Austin - thanks. Maybe ill use 2.2 ruu root then flash this again without running s-on. Unless you try rooting with s-on. Lol.

  • Andrew

I renamed the zip correctly and placed it on the root of my sd card then I rebooted to bootloader and it did the first step then said "parsing" and then it just stopped.

    • Austin

That's odd, that isn't a problem I've ever faced. I honestly don't know how to help you with that one.

I suggest going over to the XDA forums and asking for help there.

  • Austin

@incidious, it wont let me reply to you at the original thread. I don't really like how these are set up... anyways...

That really sucks, as long as you know what's causing it I guess that's a good thing. I hate having my screen really dim. I hope you can get it all fixed up soon.

    • incidious

Yeah I love the phone Im just avoiding talkin to the idiot VZW reps that are gonna try to tell me its me or the battery when I know what the problem is. Ive been doin this for quite sometime now.

    • incidious

I'm just gonna wait it out. See what holds up in the market hopefully there's a VZW dual core htc worth buying

    • Austin

Is your SD card formatted as FAT32?

      • Victor

I just did it. Should it be recognized by the bootloader? Cos it didn't. I still have the old recovery though. I tried to flash it through the old recovery but didn't work.

        Thank you for your attention!

        • Austin

          No problem.

I want to make sure I understand what you are trying to do.

Right now you are trying to flash the Gingerbread ROM, to your phone, correct?

        • Victor

I was able at last to install it after installing 3.0.0.8 CWM Austin. I have only one issue, my Twitter notifications are not working. Actually, the Twitter push notifications service is not even running (I checked it in running services).

Thank you for all your answers which were very helpful!

  • Charles

Hello, I want to be clear on a previous comment that I read about this update. I have a mix of apps, some installed on SD, some in phone memory. Do I need to do anything special before installing this upgrade?

    Thanks

    • Austin

Nothing on your SD card will be touched. Anything on your phone will be completely wiped.

The best idea (and what I did) is to install AppBrain. That app will sync a list of all your installed apps to an online account in the cloud.

Once you've got your GB installed you can then re-install AppBrain and redownload all of your apps again. It is slightly time consuming, but I don't think there is a better way to do it.

  • Sam

Anybody try rooting it with S-ON?

    • Austin

Not possible as far as I know.

      • Sam

Maybe you can help me. Im still running this GB ruu.. but my plan was to use 2.2 ruu to go back to 2.2, root it, then run this ruu without running the s-on patch.

It keeps saying USB connection error even with a good USB cable, charge only connection type, and usb debugging on.
So I can't do my plan. Thats why I keep asking about S-on rooting this.

But could ya help? Any ideas?

        • Sam

Update: Still not working. We should like email unrEVOked and have them root the GB build. lol.

        • Austin

You can't flash a new ROM without root, as far as I know.

And without S-OFF you aren't getting root back on your phone for now. Sorry I can't help you more than that.

  • cj

I can't get this to work. I've tried downloading the file to my computer twice, renamed the file, copied to the root of my sd card, booted to HBOOT and it flashes some text very quickly, one of the lines says no image after the zip file.

    • Austin

Make sure you are renaming it correctly.

When renaming, don't change it to "PB31IMG.zip", just right click, choose "rename" and then type "PB31IMG".

Other than that I don't know why you'd be having that problem.

  • Robert Williams

Well, I guess this update did NOT fix the low memory issue, I'm getting it again with 400mb free and now my gmail app won't sync just like it did with Froyo. Anyone know any tips on this issue?

  • akambience

I'm having the same issue. Its flashing very quickly "no image" after listing 5 or so files. I've downloaded and renamed it "PB31IMG" a few times... nada.. any ideas?

    • akambience

nevermind. I reformatted the sd card to a FAT32 and it worked fine.

  • Crawfordman

    Sweet and easy. Working great!

  • Charles

Worked fine for me, was able to rename the file on my Mac without a problem and the Dinc recognized it and loaded it in.

Now that I've done this, I'd _REALLY_ like to get a newer version on Sense on the phone. Is that possible? I've never rooted up until now, but would definitely consider rooting to get a newer UI.

    • Austin

Kingdom Rom has the new Sense, but when I loaded the Inc version I was getting Force Close errors left and right.

Literally, I would close one and have another pop up, or have to close 5 in a row that were open right on top of each other. They were all core Android services that kept restarting and failing.

If you manage to get it working again please let me know because I'd love to load that ROM on.

    • Victor

Could you please tell me the whole procedure using mac to install it? What recovery are you using? Thanks in advance.

  • KRS

Has anyone been receiving increased spam since installing this leaked version and then reinstalling all email apps. Don't know why a leaked version would/could cause this.

    • Austin

I have not. Sounds like you may have been scammed recently.

  • Anthony

Any luck with rooting 2.3.4 for folks that have S-ON?

    • Austin

With S-ON you can not root right now, sorry.

  • Timmy

Is the a way to root after i have done the update? I have never rooted but would like to so if there is can you tell me what i should use. thanks

  • Andrew

I'm am using this right now and when I go to the market to see Verizon apps it says sprint? And also when I go to hardware it says 4.3 inch screen?

    • Austin

Weird, I too get the 4.3 inch screen thing. Not sure why.

I'm not having the same problem with the apps, but I am also on the newest version of the Market.

  • JT

I'm having the same problem as CJ, I downloaded the file, renamed it exactly as said...put it on SD root, and tried to hboot, but it just flashed some text quickly that says wrong image or something like that.

    • Austin

Is your card formatted as FAT32?

      • JT

excuse my ignorance, but I have no idea...

        • Austin

That's okay. If you are on a Windows machine just connect your phone to the computer, right click your SD card icon in My Computer and choose Properties.

Under the General tab, see what is next to File System. If it's anything other than FAT32 you need to reformat your card to FAT32. This will delete all information on the SD card.

  • Incredidroid

Any way to root post clean install? S-ON before install of gingerbread.

    • Austin

If you've installed this GB rom and have S-ON, then no.

  • The Prof

Perhaps this is a silly question, but the install instructions above say download CWM and rename it PB31IMG. Then it says also rename the GB rom PB31IMG. Same name, or am I missing something?

    • Austin

      Nope, that's correct.

You'll install the GB rom first, then attempt to install CWM second if you have S-OFF. It won't work with S-ON!

      • The Prof

Thank you. Your help on this board has been invaluable. I do have S-OFF, so I will attempt the GB upgrade over the long weekend (who needs a phone on Labor Day!)

        • Austin

No problem. I needed help myself when I first started with this stuff so I understand how frustrating it is.

Report back with how it goes!

    • Scott

I installed the GB just fine (Man! It is SO fast!). However, I am trying to get CWM re-installed now.

What exactly am I downloading for CWM? The recovery image? And rename that? I tried that, but it wouldn't recognize it. Does it need to be a .zip file first?

      Thanks...

So now that this is not the up to date build, will we get the verizon notification?

There is a new build number (4.06.605.3) that will be released, not 4.06.605.2 as listed in the download.

The update has been approved, so it could be rolling out within the next week.
    http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/incredible.pdf

    4.06.605.3 in the documentation.
So the main point of the question is will we see the update notification for the newest 2.3 update?

    • Trevor

I wondered this same thing or hope for a leaked version of it as well, it started hitting phones already but since i installed this leak its been nothing but buggy and Id like to believe they worked them out. Anyone else have any ideas on this?

      • Sam

Did you do a factory reset afterwards?

        • Trevor

Yea I did, when reboot the location warning always pops up even when I say never warn. And the auto brightness doesnt work, it stays at its brightest setting all the time. Amd a few others I cant think of atm that ive come across.

        • TJ2005

I get the same warning about location even though I hit to never warn me. I ha e also noticed somethings that have widgets nonverbal show like Groupon and foursquare. Had widgets before I upgraded now no longer show available I can only make a short cut for the app

  • Trevor

I have not noticed much with widgets I haven't set them back up yet but i didid notice the zoom bar in the camera is off as well.. I saw mention of change to the notification pull down on one of the pages (about the update) as well but it still looks like normal to me, think it was something about running programs or maybe shortcuts for airplane mode, vibrate, things like that?

  • James

Will i be able to do the OTA update if i do this? and i know this should be what the update is, but i wanna be sure i can be able to do the OTA update if possible.

  • Victor

I have the same question. Is this RUU exactly the same as the OTA update one which's rolling out now and is on the internet? I know both have the same version number and baseband although I found some problems such the Twitter push notifications not working. The "Hardware" section under the "About" menu says it is a 4.3 inch device and the font size in the browser's menu is smaller and seems to be made for a 4.3 inch screen. I would like to know if somebody has compared this RUU and the OTA one and found some differences. Thanks!

  • TJ2005

has anyone that did this received the official vz update? or been able to update their own phone to the new update that is floating around? Everytime i try i get a refrence to the PB31IMG and no image file. ...just wondering

  • Techguy101

Firstly after doing this update not much seemed to changed and it didnt load the way you describe. Secondly it seems just like froyo kinda not much difference the only probelm im having is the phone wont read any SD card now wtf is that??? i cant load nothing now. Plus i cant seem to root the phone either. Gingerbreak didnt even do anything to this i may be some what of a newb when it comes to this stuff but i know enough that something happened after the update.

  • Book

I rooted, but am operating on 2.2. Do I need to UNROOT before installing this? I heard there a lot of problems with this version, is this accurate?

  • Shut out of root and hboot

This is not good. My phone (original HTC Incredible, as this thread implies) was rooted with the S-OFF, now it apparently isn't. Well, what I know is that the Superuser (ninja) icon no longer appears in my apps list, I no longer can access HBOOT through the usual Volume-Down and Power switches, and my root-only apps no longer work.

Without being able to access HBOOT, I don't really know what became of my S status. But what's really bad (even worse than losing the root), is that my battery life is now less than half what it was, that my phone slowly heats up when not being used, and it's not going to be of any use like this.

I really hope somebody can explain the above problems, and please, if you can, help me find a way back into HBOOT so that I can downgrade back to Froyo!

    Thanks.
