Taking a break from our regular social giveaways, last week we announced a creative contest to see which one of our readers can come up with the most creative 404 Page Not Found page for the site and in exchange win a brand new T-Mobile G2x Tegra-powered phone from NVIDIA.

Throughout the contest, I found myself absolutely blown away by some of your submissions, finding it harder and harder to decide who presented the best design. Now that I've sorted all 140 or so entries and selected the 20 best ones, I'm going to let all of you help us decide instead.

Take a look at the submissions below, presented in no particular order, then cast your votes for your top 3 favorites in the poll at the bottom. I specifically omitted submitters' names for now to avoid distractions and favoritism.

The winner will, of course, receive the G2x, and because so many of you poured your hearts and souls into the contest, I'll throw in AP shirts for each of the 5 runner-up designs as consolation prizes.

This entry is not entirely original - it's based on our Twitter background, with the author adding the dead Droid, blood, bullet casings, and a few other elements to it. I must say - it's a very clean job, so we will let it be part of the contest.

This is the only animated submission we've received, and because of that I think it deserves special recognition. Click here if you want to see it on a separate page which you can refresh to start it from the beginning.

Notice the Apple here acts as Pac-Man, with the bite take out of the apple in the Apple logo acting as Pac-Man's mouth and Androids acting as ghosts. Quite witty.

8

A play on Lost, a popular TV show.

9

Everyone can recognize the Android lock screen in this design.

10

Very well done - the 3Dish rendering looks great.

Droids in black?

Note the Android version numbers on the left - nicely done.

The 404 road sign, the cop car and police officer, the "one six" on the donut box (Android 1.6 was named Donut - get it?), "page not found - want a donut?" - this is one creative and witty entry.

No, it's not a "sideways butt crack," as somebody pointed out. It's a butt and some back fat, OK? Too many donuts will do that to a cop.

Bonus

Here are some submissions I'm including for the lulz. They are not part of the vote, but rather your entertainment.

First up, a design that was quickly thrown together on a sheet of paper with a suggestion that somebody has to implement it in all its glory. It featured a roll of toilet paper, a can, Apple... the full enchilada. Here are the lulzworthy results:

Who says cops don't have fun when they're off duty, eh?

This contest is now over. We have selected the winners - see if you are one of them here.
