It looks like Sammy has something up its sleeve that will be exposed for all to see on August 29th in New York City. Touting a "major product announcement," we can only assume it means one thing: the Galaxy S II. Just typing it fills me with excitement, as we'll finally be getting what is probably the best smartphone on the planet.

See that 'II' at the bottom? Subtle, Sammy. Real subtle.

Hopefully we'll get the full skinny, including cost, carrier availability, and a finalized (probably atrocious) moniker for each, so we can lay all the rumors to rest.

Now, there's only one thing left to do: wait.

I'm hoping it's the Galaxy S II. Samsung needs a break after all that Apple has went through to shut them down. I'm a happy Samsung Infuse owner, but when and if I ever want to get a new phone, Galaxy S II here I come!

Without a doubt it's the Galaxy S II. Note the stars in the background and the II. I believe Motorola really messed up by not launching the Bionic sooner. The Galaxy II has a better screen, better front facing camera, better processor, and is being released at the same time as the Bionic. Why would consumers not choose this over the Bionic?

Lets see... I know everybody here seems to love oversaturated screens, I don't. You don't actually know what processor will be in it... the Tmo version is supposedly different than the international version. Cheap plastic build quality, poor support history (I hear people with the Fascinate are still waiting for their GPS to acquire a satellite). I'll give you that the cameras are better (a historical weak point with Motorola), but other than that and of course the fact that you MUST have root (since Sammy support sucks), I don't get why people fall all over themselves for Samsung.

Just bring the 4g/lte Verizon version of the Galaxy s2, hopefully its coming with 4g

  • Eric S.

I just hope they don't kill the Verizon version as they did the others. I don't want it to be bigger than 4.3 inches or be any thicker. But I guess we'll see what happens.

I wish all GS2 perspective buyers well regardless of the fact that all we will recieve is some watered down versions of the original GS2. Thank god for HTC we don't have to worry about all these unnecessary differences we rock the top devices already

Could it also be about a possible 2nd generation Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch?

I think they're going to announce that Steve Jobs will resign from apple.

I'm so outraged by the CIQ debacle- I'm not gonna buy a Samsung or HTC phone ever again. Researching to see what other companies thought this unethical behavior was "okay" to inflict on unsuspecting customers- so I can avoid their products ever after. Companies that do horrible things to their customers don't deserve customers. Period.

I was about to buy a Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S II- for the holidays for me and my wife and daughter.
Now I'm researching to find an ethical company- that wont leave me and my family casually in the wind.
