Earlier today, HTC and AT&T began pushing out the official Gingerbread OTA to Inspire 4G handsets across the nation. This update brings all of the added features of Gingerbread, along with some enhancements to Sense, and bug fixes:

  • Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
  • New HTC Sense™ features
    • Updated Application Tray features
    • Updated FriendStream™ features
    • Added Quick Settings in the Notifications window
  • Improved Power Management function
  • Improved media experience
  • Various minor bug fixes

To manually check for the update, head into the Settings menu > AT&T Software Update > HTC Wi-Fi Software Update > Check now. If you haven't received the update, you can grab the download here and install it manually.

Man...forget the the Inspire, I want to see Gingerbread for the Infuse!

Just checked and it said my phone is up to date and I'm on 2.2.1

Just got it from the HTC via the "manual" link. So far I like it. Love the Quick Settings in the notification tray and the Frequents apps list. I don't like the "grouping" in the all app list. Market won't download any new apps though, just restores the old ones.

Already not liking a few things. Sense gets rid of the cool lock screen animation from gingerbread. (Not surprised) My android market got rolled back to the old version, and about 1000 other little pet peeves.

So when will the OTA come out. I have checked multiple times and I have had no results. Also, I am at the beach and I forgot my cable;_; so a manual update, no matter how much I want to do it, is impossible.

OTA is out today! Just finished downloading it and waiting for it to reboot..

Non-geek here but need advice. Went to a Sprint store to get a phone and service. Way too confusing. I need a slide-out keyboard. The sales guy said this Gingerbread update was coming soon but he didn't know the date. But from your info above, can I just get a phone now and then download the update? Also, is it better to get a hone at a store or online?
