Samsung's call for amateur promotional Galaxy Tab 10.1 videos attracted many entries so far, most of which have already been posted by the company on YouTube. The winner is still MIA, but if the 4th place that you can see below is all the way down at 4th place, I am definitely looking forward to #1 (though I can't agree with the choices for #2 and #3).

Well done, Sergio A. M., wherever you are. You should have at least been at #2.

Update 8/5/11: The #1 video was posted, and in my opinion, it's not even close to #4 above. The winner should have definitely been Sergio A. M.

For reference, here are #2 and #3 entries as well:

#3 is a definite no-go... "Your smarter than you look"...

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

      Absolutely, it's a pretentious disaster.

    • Kiamat

I was thinking the same thing, although, maybe using "your" instead of "you're" was an attempt at irony?
      ...probably not.

PS: I prefer #2 to #1 although #1 was excellent.

    • Seth Daniel

wow, no kidding. That video was terrible. #4 was definitely miles ahead of that one.

  • Sketis

I agree about No 4 being better thjen the second and third place vids..

  • PerryA

Nice videos - good work all! Hopefully in #2 they'll fix the Sherlock "Homles" typo at some point.

  • http://steveedson.co.uk Steve Edson

I like how #4 really resembles the HTC adverts...

    • Mesmorino

I agree! If I wanted the Tab #4 is the one that would convince me. #1 is just AWFUL.

  • Michael

#2 was just a ripoff of the Palm Pre commercials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xl31hwu_Ihg&feature=related

  • lilhugo

I agree that number 4 should have been the winner.
I guess the reason why number 1 got first would be that it was the shortest.
This means it should be cheaper to air on T.V. more often than a 1 minute long commercial. 30 seconds is perfect if a person watching the commercial has a short attention span or does not care about the product.
Honestly I get tired of those HP TouchPad commercials and change the channel before it's done.

  • androidify

If you think #2 was a copy of another commercial then so is #4 that everyone likes. Everybody does those pencil sketch commercials. E.g. UPS. That's probably why it didn't win.

  • Hai

I agree with #4 should have been the winner. Being a student myself, I totally understand. But that's beside the point... it was good on its own. The #1 has no story whatsoever...

  • Father Phoenix

My wife and I both preferred #2. Seeing things from the Tabs perspective gave it a WOW factor that the others just didn't have. #1 was a bad choice because it looks like every other ad for such devices out there. #3 was cute we thought. #4 was good but just didn't have the WOW factor of #2 to us.

  • jdm4u

Well looks like comments on the the actual video need approval, so i'll post my thoughts on #1 here because i'm pretty sure samsung wont approve it.

WOW are you serious Samsung? The whole purpose to this contest is to show in a video how a Galaxy Tab can help you (the consumer) in your everyday life. All I see in this video is a Galaxy Tab commercial that shows off specs. Sure the effects in the video were good, but seriously??? It can pass as an official commercial, which was NOT the basis of this contest. This is honestly the worst example of what this contest was supposed to produce. Way to follow your own rules.

    • liams

pretty much sums up my reaction to this. Nice effects, but what part of that convinces me that the tab fits into my day to day life? Certainly not the music, which IMO is terribly out of place.

  • http://www.mdknight.net Ish

Wow...the winner wasn't even in the same league as any of them. It was like the vast major of the ads you see for it anyway. I can't choose between #4 and #2. And #3 wasn't terrible, better than #1 at least. It was cute, just wasn't has dramatic or of as high production value as #'s 2 & 4.

  • Sheena

Wow the winner is..awful. : If that was the winner, then I should have submitted an entry to. That takes like a few minutes on After Effects to do. Seriously. I would've preferred any of the others over that! Unbelievable.

  • engineerGA

I don't even like number 4. Like others have posted already, those pencil sketch commercials are overdone already. I liked video number 2 best. I could have done without seeing some dude shirtless, though.

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

My thoughts exactly about #2 regarding the shirt.

  • Brazilian Rider

    For me, it would've been:

    [Every Other Entry]

  • http://euandroid.com.br Tsuharesu

Wow great for number 2 that he has WiFi on his car, on the street and that iOS battery...

number 4 was good too =) I like this sketchs things...

  • RandyB

I think the obvious reason why #1 won is that it is the only video that shows the real product from start to finish.

4 is great, but it fails like 3 in that it doesn't show the product until the end (heck - same with 2), and when it does it is just the front. Looks a lot like an Ipad from that angle. As an ignorant consumer, what in 2, 3 , and 4 would make me not think it is just another Ipad commericial?

Everyone is looking at these commericals like people who are familiar with the product.

Hey guys, I recently found your article on the Samsung Galaxy Tab video contest:
And wanted to get in contact with you guys to give my thanks to Artem Russakovskii as well as the site itself for sharing my entry! Sorry for the late response, my last quarter at school has been amazingly hectic! I won the Early Entry Prize of $2k which was enough to let me purchase a 32gb version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Honeycomb 3.1 on it runs very smoothly! That video which you guys posted was my 2nd entry and won 4th place (but I sadly have yet to receive any money).

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

You really should have won - everyone here thinks so. I hope Samsung pays you soon - why is there a holdup?

      • http://thefourthmachine.com Sergio A.M.

Not sure really :O I think it might be due to Zooppa (the company that ran the contest) since others are complaining as well. I might try to contact Samsung though!

    • sgtguthrie

I agree, you should have won! I just watched both videos, can't even remember anything from the video that won. Yours definitely sticks in my head though. Great job...

      • http://thefourthmachine.com Sergio A.M.

Thanks! A lot of thought and planning went into the video :D Glad to hear you liked it!

    • http://About.me/DarknesSx DarknesSx

      Ahhh AWESOME Man :D

And i've said it before (i'm DevilSnakeLDS on YouTube xD) and saying it again, you deserve #1 :D

      • http://thefourthmachine.com Sergio A.M.

haha good to see you on here! and once again, thanks a lot! =D

  • rTiGd2

Clearly the Samsung judges voted with their marketing department, rather than their users.

Oh and clearly their marketing department don't have a clue as to what turns their users on.

    • http://About.me/DarknesSx DarknesSx

just to assure that, did you see the 3rd place?
"she" won just because she's "she"

    • http://thefourthmachine.com Sergio A.M.

Yeah, I really don't know what happened. My first entry won the "Early Entry Prize" and what's funny is that the 1st place winner went head-to-head with me for that early entry prize which I won and yet somehow he beat all the other contestants afterwards? @.@

  • Lee

#3 seems like one of those girls that thinks she's funny....but no one else thinks the same. Fail.
