So crazy how much internal storage HTC provides! Its like were buying 50$ phones!

  • good sam

correction the evo 3d is 1.2 ghz not 1 ghz and the evo 3d has 1 gb usable on first boot

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/author/jaroslav-stekl/ Jaroslav Stekl

Fixed the CPU speed; however, the storage is technically 4GB (at least according to HTC's website). As I noted, not all of that is usable - some of it is taken up by the Android OS.

I'm enjoying it so far. I'm bummed it didn't include a MHL adapter, I'm happy that even though it didn't ship unlocked, most of the apps can be uninstalled, even most of the Sprint stock ones.

My once pristine screen now is littered with fingerprints, now I understand the touchpad on the back of the Sony Vita (if the UI intelligently reflects what you are doing on the underside without being a hindrance, that is). ;)

  • SanityKills

If they're all on the same OS wouldn't the operating system take up the same amount of space on all of them?

    • http://androidpolice.com/author/jaroslav-stekl Jaroslav Stekl

It could be a result of the EVO 3D's newer version of Sense (3. 0), though I'm sure that's only part of the reason.

      • Rick

Correct. Sense 3.0 is a significantly larger add-on to 2.3. I'm running it on my EVO right now and I had to re-partition my SD Card to be able to fit all my apps. It does run great on the EVO so on the EVO 3D it should be amazing...I can't wait until I get my 3D but now is the best time ever to root your EVO...it's running better than ever.

        • Delorean

I got the EVO 4G how do I upgrade my android system to 3.0

  • koiutree

One problem that i am having with my HTC EVO 3D is the speakers arent as loud as my old EVO 4g. I have it at high and i cant even hear the incoming sms or phone calls.

    • isaac

Can you even find the speaker? Shoulda put 2 in like my iPhone 3g

      • ben

HOW DARE YOU UTTER THOSE WORDS YOU, YOU BLASPHEMER!!!

  • Hotonfire

after you having the 4g, and now using the 3d, what phone do you like the most, and witch one would you recommend?

  • Simon Belmont

Is it really only $100 for a Sprint HTC EVO 4G right now? I went to their website and it said $150.

I want to upgrade to the Sprint HTC EVO 3D and my wife wants the Sprint HTC EVO 4G, so I'm interested in the actual pricing of the latter. Thanks.

  • neil

I have used the EVO 4g for a year, it is a great phone. I got an EVO 3d yesterday, overall I love it. The phone is fast, the display is gorgeous, HTC sense 3 is great. I have a few minor complaints with the 3d: the battery life is far worse than the EVO 4g (i didn't think it was possible); lack of a kickstand, I may be the only person who used the kickstamd but I miss it; signal strength, the antenna on my EVO 4g seems to get a stronger signal than my EVO 3d.

    • Chopper Joe

Odd that your battery life is worse with the 3D; it's dramatically better for me than the 4G. (The only tweak I've done is turn off auto-sync.)

I too miss the kickstand but I'm loving some of the "little changes" in Sense 3.0 that make life a lot easier.

  • DruidPriest

I sell sprint via Radio Shack and i own a HTC EVO "rooted" its by far the best phone i have ever owned. I have been android from the very beginning "launch day for the G1". The EVO 3D look promising but I'm waiting for a way to root it i don't need scene 3.0 and i doubt ill use the 3D much at all i just want the computing power. But over all the response I've gotten form my customers has been overwhelming it looks like HTC has done it again ...

    • TEE TEE COMFORT

hello...HMMM when you say rooted what do you mean?? for the htc evo 4G ...sounds like it makes it stronger...IS that what it does??? TO THE PHONE?

  • PhoneUser

I'm looking at getting a new phone on the 1st... I've been looking at the HTC EVO straight from the start. I'm really liking the 3D specs and everything. The one thing I wish it had was a keyboard! Can't they make an EVO 3D with keyboard? That would be awesome!

    • josh

Yeah they can call it the EVO shift 3D

      • carol

My so has an evo shift but its not 3d I have evo 3d its ok but im trying.to figure out where an evo shift has 3d please tell me. My son would love it

    • josh

Yeah they can call it the EVO shift 3D.

  • luis

What a heck, the speaker sound on the EVO 3d is a joke, seriously I'm thinking of returning it

  • neil

@ Luis the max volume of the speaker on the 3d is very low, you can increase it some by using power amp, and selecting the phone speaker setting. This only works for music though.
@ chopper joe the battery life on my 4g sucked hard until the gingerbread ota, after that it was pretty good. My 3d seems to die very quickly, but I have only had it for a day, so I could be wrong.

  • JZ

I purchased the EVO 3D on Friday it was an upgrade from the HERO..I know right...I agree with several of you on the speakers being way to low.I work in a loud place..I too am thinking about returning the phone..Why didn't they(HTC) leave the speakers alone..

    • Tony

Do you notice everything on the screen is just a little smaller, I liked the way the Icons and TEXT on the EVO 4G were bigger, Sense 3.0 is really nice.

  • Tony

Love everything about the Phone, just one complaint, if the screen size is 4.3 just like the EVO 4G why does the TEXT on Friend Stream, facebook, and Peep, SMALLER and there's no way to make the TEXT Bigger. Everything on the EVO 4G was just a little bigger on the screen and easier to read.

    • BeatBlaster_

The resolution is higher on the 3D that's why the text appears smaller (because bigger resolution means fitting more on the screen).

  • Romen

Blind fucks! Complaining about the text. It's perfect. Get some glasses!

    • marc

Are you serious!? Just because you can see it doesn't mean everyone else can! Don't be a douchebag.

  • Nelly

I am having mixed emotions from the Original Evo to the 3d one. I love the software so on and so forth. The only thing is the 5mp camera, and you must have a super steady hand to get a decent 3d picture. That is probably the only reason why I would go back to the regular evo.

    • Mrs. Murray

I loved my EVO 4G, but had so many problems, now I'm unsure what to do. First the keyboard wouldn't always show up and the text box would repeat on the screen, then they replace it and the new one freezes on me all weekend after getting it. Literally I couldn't do anything for longer than 1 minute, I even did a hard reset myself. So now they gave me the 3d, which I have no need for the 3d feature. The camera pics are terrible in comparison to the 4G, I miss the kickstand, the speakers aren't as good, and the screen seems so much smaller. But I love Sense 3.0 and the speed! What to do??????

  • hrobles

Okay im taking some time to dble think of getting the evo 3d but b4 that i wld like to get some honest and real reviews for the 3d!! No complaints plz just pros n cons!!! Thx

    • Harm Nar Nar

I have been using the Evo 3D for almost a week now. I'm amazed at some of the complaints made by some of the other users. I'm not discrediting what they are saying, but I am surprised at some people's reasoning behind returning the phone. Here's my 2 cents.

I hated sense before, but I really like sense 3.0. It's smooth and has some great added features.

The phone is super fast. No lag. Period.

I don't find the speaker to be an issue. It's loud enough. . .

The camera. . .about the same as the original evo. Would I prefer an 8mp camera? Sure. But really, it doesn't make all that big of a difference.

The battery life is better than the EVO. I guarantee the majority of users stating the battery life of the 3D is worse than the 4G aren't taking into consideration that they are spending 2-3 more times on their phone than they were when they had their other EVO. Come on. . .of coarse the battery life is going to seem worse. . .you're dinking around with your phone all day!

The only think I found frustrating with the 3D was the view angle of the 3D. Other than that, I rather enjoy the "gimicky" feature.

Kickstand would have been nice. . .but I haven't missed it.

That's really all I have to say. I love the phone. It is the QUICKEST phone out. . .and will be either the quickest or close to for some time.

  • Craig

The biggest drain for me on the EVO 3d is forgetting to turn the camera off. The photos are great. I travel for a living, and not having to bring a separate camera for quick snap shots is great.

The 8 mega pixel original EVO seemed to take poorer pics.

Battery life gets me through the day, if I don't forget to turn the camera off.

  • lmiller3

EVO in general needs to stop coming up short and then fixing the issues. The iPhone has an internal battery that's hardwired and exhibits longevity. Time to step it up evo. Stop producing half ass products.

    • Johnneh

Really? I had an iphone before I switched to the evo, and being able to swap batteries is a great feature when you're running around too much to let it just sit and charge.

  • robert

Walmart has the EVO for $9.99 on sale with a two yr contract

  • Altascene

Radio Shack has the Evo 4g at $30 with a 2 year renewal. Best Buy matched it, and I am enjoying my 4g.

  • Tom

I am new to Android phones, as i will be locked up for the next two year i don't want to be left wanting more. I have played with the EVO 4g (some of my friends have it) not fond of the virtual keyboard so thinking of going with the shift. Any recomedations?

    Question:

Is the 2.2 system upgradable to the 2.3?

  • lmiller3

Soon after the 1st year of use, the letters on your keyboard will probably start to fade. Also, you will have to revert to the virtual keyboard anyhow once the keyboard goes out.

  • nunya

    I want that evo 3g

  • Dobby

Is the memory on 3D upgradable?

  • http://? james

When will a root be available for the 3D?

  • Kendall

Hi, I'm wanting to get an EVO. I was going to get the 4G one, just because I really don't NEED the 3D. Is the 3D THAT much better?

  • Ryan

@Kendall That's a good question. I am a new Android user as of Friday. Bought an HTC Hero for $40 of a guy that had upgraded to the EVO. I too want to get an EVO now that I see how awesome Android is. I don't plan on using it for gaming so I don't need the 3D either. I know the EVO 3D has a 200MHZ faster processor, and slightly larger screen resolution(Two reasons for poorer battery life I might add). To me, those are negligeble, so I was wondering what benefits other than those would make the Evo 3D worth it for me?

  • Sasha

I have the Evo 4G and am ready to throw it out the window! Lol no seriously but I'm not sure what the problem is but this will be my third battery in less than a week. Either it's me switching chargers up today or the phone that's burning my batteries out (which I will gladly get a new one because I am in LOVE with my Evo) but I'm gonna find out later. I honestly don't care for the upgrade to 3D the 3D just seems like a waste. It's not like awesome 3D you see in movies...I actually think glasses woulda made it cooler but just my opinion. Someone told me to switch to the Epic but I am NOT a fan of slide out keyboards.

  • vithya

I ve got the brand new HTC eve 4g tablet, for getting more information check the following website http://www.latesttabletnews.com/2011/07/htc-evo-view-4g-tablet-reviews.html

  • Sasha

Turned out to be my charging port she says. Good thing I have TEP...walked out with a brand new white Evo :) Happy for now. The white one actually seems to move a little faster than the regular black Evo. Some people have similar results others say there's no difference. *Shrug*

  • Ryanrange

@ sasha The white one actually seems to move a little faster than the regular black Evo

    Phone racist! Lol

  • Sasha

    @Ryan Lmaooo Sad But True

  • vaughn

Got an evo shift two weeks ago. Came from apple, and should have done it years ago! Free with two year agreement...best thing I've gotgten for free, like, ever...

  • manny

well ive had the evo 3d for about a week and to tell u the truth the phone is awsome its fast and the display is amazing, also the size is perfect not to big or small i definetly recommend this phone, ive been into iphones since they came out but now i switched to sprint with the family, so im new to androids and the evo 3d my friend is perfect...the only complaint i have about this phone is the power and volume buttons, the buttons feel cheap, they are not solid it kind of feels like there touch its like u cant tell if u pressed it or not they are plastic which is not durable for a phone this good they should of had made it stainless steel like the camera shutter buttons and more solid, but other than that the phone is great and worth getting if you feel like upgrading

  • shaniah

which is the better phone the evo 4g or the evo 3d and which one as a bigger screen.

  • blaine

I love the evo 3d over my old evo 4g, its faster gotta love the dual core proccesor, its more rugged and sturdyer and of corse the 3d is awsome. even tho the 1730 mah battry is better then 4gs 1500 i still bought a 2000 mah battery 4 it htc has made me battery paranoid. I still miss sum of the classic things that made my old evo 4g fun like the kickstand and the hdmi port and the speakers were louder, but overall there both staples of htc's ingeneering cant go wrong with either 1..if u can get a evo 4g for $100 or less then u should feel brillient

  • Nhowell

I switched from the white EVO 4G to the black 3D (no phoneracism :)) and i have to say, even after having the iPhone, Droid X/X2, original Droid, Galaxy S(Fascinate,Epic 4G) and a couple Blackberrys, this is the BEST phone i have ever owned. The 4G was close, but due to the incredibly improved speed and build quality of the 3D, I have to say it takes the cake! The battery life can be shorter than the 4G when you have 3D going (but still makes it through a whole day!!! oh and both with gingerbread mind you) and the lack of a kickstand is somewhat bittersweet, but the 3D is an absolutely solid phone, I wouldnt even trade it for the SGS II!!!!

  • angie

In a text thread go to menu..more..option and make thevtext larger

  • james braselton

hi there i have chosen lg thrill 3d i have a nintendo 3ds notice a big increase in 3d only websites over the 2d web sites soo that means a future of 3d only internet will come sooner not later

  • Derek

EVO 3d is the worst phone I've ever owned... Don't waste your money, had to spend over 3 hours on customer support for them to send me the Eco 4G, here's hoping that one actually works!

  • Reynaldo

we are offering it for sale for as low as 400USD.

Interested buyers should please contact us on: reynaldo.rodriguez01@yahoo.com

  • gissettepr

Got my 3D a few days ago as a replacement when I dropped and shattered my 4G. Had the 4G for over a year and i liked it, but I gotta say that i love the 3D. First of all, the phone is super fast. Web browsing is actually fun now. I also love all the little graphics and such. The picture s are very clear, even with a 5mp camera. I can live without the 3D pictures, but overall I have no complaints. I really love my phone!

  • mayank
