It's no secret that the HTC Sensation is coming to T-Mobile on June 15th for $199 after a $50 mail-in-rebate. The device is also going to be landing at select Wal-Mart stores as early as June 12, but until now, we had no idea what the pricing was going to look like. The crew over at Android Community has gotten a hold of some info that tells us just that, and it looks like it's going to come in at $148.88 (with a two-year agreement). This means that, at the time of purchase, you'll be spending $100 less than if you wait to pick this device up from Team Magenta.

Ignore the screen typo - it is, in fact, a 4.3 inch Super LCD

On a similar note, TmoNews is reporting that some users were actually able to pick up a Sensation 4G from Wal-Mart today, and digging through this thread on XDA yielded similar findings. At this point, it seems to be quite sporadic which Wal-Marts are letting go of this handset early and which aren't, so the only way to find out is to give it a go and see what happens.

If you decide that you just can't wait to get HTC's newest offering in your hands, let us know how it goes in the comments.

The screen is QHD 960x540 not Amoled.

    • Cameron Summerson

      You're right, it's not AMOLED, it's a Super LCD.

qHD refers to resolution, not the actual display.

  • noel

what's the price if you're upgrading? is it the same?

    • Cameron Summerson

Indeed. It's $148.88 with a two-year agreement (I've updated the post to reflect that). Rumor has it that it's $550 or $600 without upgrade - I haven't found any concrete evidence on that price as of yet.

        ok thanks dude!
i guess we now know what my next phone is gonna be. it should be worth it, especially coming from an almost 3 year Cliq owner!

        • Paul

Wow. Using a Cliq for 3 years... This phone will blow that thing out of the water and then some. That's like going from a Ford Pinto to a Chevy Camaro.

For some reason I thought it was launching today anyway. Was really confused when I couldn't find it online anywhere. Guess I have to wait another week... no Wallmart around here :)

    • Cameron Summerson

The original launch date was supposed to be today. T-Mo pushed the release back a week for unknown reasons.

      • http://zalzalaweb.com/jens anakin78z

        Ah, that explains it.
I was in Europe a week ago and got to handle a Sensation. Wow, that hardware is so nice in person. HTC have really outdone themselves.

I went to a Walmart in Houston and they had it but the $148.88 price is available ONLY if your 2 year contract is up. My contract is not up until Sept so no dice.. close but no cigar. The TMOBILE stores around my house are CLUELESS they gave me a June 18th date and one TMOBILE store even said they would not get for A MONTH. WHY?!?!? TMOBILE FAIL.

I have one better for you guys. There's is this online store that did a press release on how they are:

    1. Taking Pre orders for the HTC Sensation.

    2. They claim to be selling it for $160 off contact.

I find it hard to believe myself but you can check the press release here and make heads or tails of it on your own.
