Welcome back to another lovely edition of our Boot Animation Roundup! We've been scouring the net for the past couple of weeks looking for the coolest boot animations that we could find, and here's what we came up with: a hungry Android, the guts of a Gingerbread man, a new take on a classic, some TRON-esque lovin', and a little somethin' somethin' for all the gamers out there.

Don’t know how to change your boot animation? Take a look at our primer on the matter.

Don’t forget to take a look at the last four editions of this roundup: Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3, and Vol. 4.

Alright, with that out of the way, let's get started!

This is a super clean boot animation with a very TRON-like vibe to it. The scan lines at the end are an especially nice touch, but if you're not feeling them, there is also a version without. Check them out, and hit the source link for download.

Gingerbread Anatomy

If I were to describe this in one word, it would probably be... guts. Or creepy. Either way, this anatomically incorrect bootscreen is completely full of win.

Android vs. iPhone

It fills me with great joy to see our little green mascot punt the competition across the room... and then eat it, of course. Now you can experience this same joyous feeling each time you reboot your phone!

Android Revamped

Remember the original Android boot animation? Well it's undergone some cosmetic surgery, and the result is pretty incredible. Have a looksee:

Half-Life 2

Closing out the show today is one for the gamers. It's all about Half-Life 2, baby. Enjoy.

We're always on the hunt for new bootscreens (and other rad mods, too) - so if you've got a good one, send us a tip, or just drop it in the comments.

These are freaking amazing... Grabbing the HL2 and the Tron scan-line one...

    heahehehaae some good onez

but after the dancing troll, chaos it is

These are great but I have one big problem, I have a T-mob HTC desire (uk) and the rom they updated to is the German t-mob version. I have rooted and got s-off but cant change the boot animation :( it's not labelled 'bootanimation.zip' rather TMD_bootanimation.zip - no matter where I place or rename the new one its won't work... any ideas?

I'm close to sticking CM7 on here but haven't summed up the courage to do it just yet :)

    • Kane

Why not just rename the one you know works to something different and then rename the one you want to TMD_bootanimation.zip and put it in its place?

It's too bad people who know how to customize have absolutely no graphical design sense. The best one is the Android running, but look at how ugly that font is. You can't even see the hole in the middle of the "A."
    As for the others:
    1) Ok, but it's blue, not Android green. C'mon, let's keep to a style.
    2) This is just ugly and bizarre.
    3) Nice effect, but not enough of the text is ever visible at one time. Unreadable.
    4) If you really want HL2 as your boot logo, you probably also think Dell is really hip and cool. Go drink Mountain Dew and play World of Warcraft in your room and don't make us look at your boot logo.
This ugly crap is giving Android a bad name - and just look through one of the "show your screens posts" to see more examples of ugly, clashing, tacky, ludicrous crap. Want to encourage a friend to buy an iPhone? Just show them some of these homescreens and boot logos. "Wow, man, nice 1996-style phone you got there. Looks just like a myspace.com profile!"

the nice thing about android is that anyone can customize it to suit their tastes. you don't like the halo one but christo did.

that's why android will prevail over iphone, which is just some assemblyline, you-can-have-whatever-Steve-Jobs-deigns-to-give-you piece of plastic.

i respect your right to dislike these, but please, don't get so bitter over it, huh? :3
and maybe you could design something, too, one day? that way, you would get just what you wanted. just a friendly suggestion.

      good luck!

Damn. Gingerguts skips/freezes after the first turn on my Fresh EVO. I have it set to Dethklok's "Go Forth and Die," which would be super-badass if it worked right.

  • dirtyjerk

Gingerbread Anatomy basically bricked phone. The animation would load, spin very slow, then freeze. It would never boot all the way. I had to wipe phone and reload. Did not try the others.
