Anyone who has ever ventured into the world of alternative launchers has surely heard of LauncherPro, the favorite homescreen replacement of many. The developer of LP has released an update today that brings the version number up to 0.8.6 and a number of other features with it. Take a peep at the changelog:

What's in this version:

  1. NEW Support for icon packs.
  2. NEW Real homescreen looping (enabled by default, you can disable in Preferences > Homescreen Preferences).
  3. NEW Option to hide homescreen icon label backgrounds.
  4. Scrolling performance improvements.
  5. Fixed an issue with 3rd party scrollable widgets on some HTC phones.
  6. Fixed a visual glitch when using Light caches and the "Flip" transition.
  7. Fixed hidden apps reappearing when they're updated.

Of course, the big deal here is icon packs and infinite homescreen looping - something that was also just recently enabled in ADW Launcher EX.

You can get LauncherPro for free in the Android Market, but I highly recommend grabbing the paid version to unlock even more features, like widget resizing.

Thanks, Keith!

Why is Fede's website not updated?

    • sgtguthrie

It is, and always is when there's a new release. If you go look in the forums, Fede is active there too...

It's weird that on the official page they're still featuring version 0.8.5. Does anyone know if this will work with ADW icon packs? There's not even an option to download icon packs from within the LP interface. No point releasing such a feature if they didn't even think about including an easy way to download and install the icon packs.

Yeah, the Market is lagging. Appbrain already has it though, haha, Google fail.

        Lol, for real : P

I have downloaded adw themes, the only thing that works is the icons in the app drawer, I'm sure there is more to come.

Still waiting for the full rewrite...

The cool thing is that ADW Icon Packs work with LauncherPro! =)

how do i apply icons packs on launcher pro ?

    • sgtguthrie

Just download the icon pack or adw theme. then go to Menu/preferences/Theme Settings. Then select your icon pack there. Too easy...
