One of the Android Market's biggest downsides has always been the inability to buy/sell apps in certain areas of the world. It looks like Google has been hard at work tackling this issue, though, as the reach of Android app purchases is extending to 99 more countries, for a total of 131.

This is probably some of the biggest Market-related news to come out of I/O this year, especially for citizens of the affected countries. Gone will be the days of users wishing they could get that paid-only app or developers having to set up a dedicated PayPal account and website just to make some revenue off of their hard work.

We don't really have any other details at this point, like which countries fall into this group or when the change is going to happen - but we'll make sure to keep you updated as we get more info.

Update: And here's Google's official, updated list of countries in which paid apps are available:

Well, those days are still here. I still can't buy doodle jump or fruit ninja or documents to go full....

How rude and ignorance of Google....
Saudi Arabia has one of the most users for Android and yet they decide to ignore us no matter how pathetic some countries in the list are...

    • Greenie Max

Because of the amazing banking system in Saudi Arabia, it just have to improve the banking system.

  • andro
  • makkay

Saudi Arabia is off the list (again!).. One of my favorite apps is Read It Later and I wish to buy it, but I still don't have paid apps in my country.

    • Greenie Max

How about Galaxy S, it doesn't even come with Market Place because Saudi Arabia has some problem with Google.

For some reason Market Place is banned in Saudi Arabia.

finally Malaysia will have access to paid apps. Been waiting patiently for this. Cheers Google and thank you Android Police for breaking the news.

    • http://www.arunasena.wordpress,com ArunaSena

dude applanet is pirated app which is condone man...if you want paid apps use market access and buy it thru the Android Market!

      • bogdan

It working now but i don't see any popular games like (reckless racing, fruit ninja and more) i want to buy but can't find them . That's why i said that i have to use applanet .

  • GigiAUT

This still doesn't solve the problem that a lot of users only have access to PayPal and not a credit card for Google Checkout, especially those in third world countries like Zimbabwe (my birthplace).

Google could be making so much more if they implemented it like they said they would. I've had to buy a large number of apps through other markets like SlideMe because they support payment methods suitable for me. Sorry Google, jack your shit up and then we can talk.

  • CustomKill

Market still doesn't show paid app. Could there be any solution to it? by the way, i'm from Malaysia

  • geemaan

Guys, to see the paid apps section go to Market in App Manager and clear data/cache.

  • CustomKill

after clearing, need to reboot phone or anything? because i did what you said but nothing changed

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Force Stop the Market first, then clear data, then restart it and wait 5-10 min. Then fire it up again.

      • CustomKill

i don't see any differences >< i did force stop it and clear data and then reboot the phone. Still the same as before
