Earlier this month we told you that the Acer Iconia A500 would be hitting the Best Buy sales floor on April 24th for $450 and, well, it has. If you need a refresher on the tablet's specs, here you go:

  • 1GHz Dual-core Tegra 2 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 10.1 inch, 1280x800 screen
  • 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera
  • 16GB Storage, SD Card Slot
  • Android 3.0

The $450 price tag brings it in at around $150 less than the WiFi version of the Motorola XOOM, but if you're looking to save even more cash, then you may want to wait until tomorrow and grab the $400 Asus EEE Pad Transformer.

does anyone know if the acer a500 has an IPS display?

    • Cameron Summerson

I haven't read anything that suggests that it does. It's probably safe to assume that it doesn't.

But who is goin to sell the TRANSFORMER ?

  • Jim

Bought an Asus eee Transformer on Amazon just past midnight. I'm glad to see Asus and Acer pricing the tablets better than the other ones out there. Even at 399 Asus said they are making $100 profit on each one.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the Transformer. I have postponed my plans to buy a tablet until now and I hope it wasn't a mistake. Well, as I am hearing more and more about it, I believe it really wasn't.

Seems to be one of the latest and greatest, only to be put in the closet in 6 months by the newest tablet.
