Update: It's sold out already, sorry everyone!

Back on March 23, Woot featured the Viewsonic gTablet as their deal of the day, selling the tablet for just $285 out the door. It sold out then, but it looks like they managed to get their hands on a few more, as it's the deal of the day once again. In typical Woot fashion, the description is hilarious (it's the same one as last time) - just check out the first paragraph of the product description:

There are already plenty of side by side comparisons to help you decide between a ViewSonic gTablet and an iPad. But why should you have to go to some other site? We’re selling it today, aren’t we? Of course we’re going to be totally biased the most completely objective and fair. So, in the interest of making you spend money, here’s our highly informative point-by-point break down that we researched without any sort of bias whatsoever.

Need a refresher on the gTablet's essentials?

  • 1 GHz Tegra 2 CPU
  • 10.1" 1024x600 screen
  • .5" thick, 1.5 lbs.
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 16 GB ROM, microSD slot
  • Front-facing camera
  • Android 2.2 (Froyo)

Between the high-end hardware and low price, the gTablet is an absolute bargain. Head on over to Woot, pick one up, and then hit up our primers on rooting and modding the gTab.

Don't see it on there. :(

I bought one last time. Pretty great deal in general, but the screen sucks enough in person that I'd look a little more closely at a nook color than I would have otherwise.

    • wpfn

The screen itself is gorgeous - it just doesnt have the viewing angle -which I'll happily admit sucks.

      • Isaac

Meh, the view angle sucks. But also the postion of the view angle sucks worse. The bottom edge of the view angle is right about straight on at the screen. So if you hold it in portrait and look straight at it, each eye gets a drastically different color gamut. Even when viewed ideally the screen is just OK.

Screen aside I think its great. The screen is not bad just ok. The rest of the hardware however is great. Very fast and the battery life is awesome. I love mine.

Thats a shame, I have typically liked Viewsonic LCD monitors for many years now - you think the screen is something they would have gotten right!

    • Isaac

That's what I thought too. Viewsonic was usually on top of LCD monitor reviews during the early 2000's. Not sure what happened here.
