ASUS_EeePadTransformer_4

It’s about time someone read the memo about Honeycomb tablet pricing being too damn high. According to Best Buy’s website, the Asus EEE Pad Transformer will be dropping at the awesomely low price of $400. If you haven’t heard about the the EEE Pad Transformer, check this out:

Yeah, it’s that cool. The EEE Pad Transformer ships with Honeycomb, a 10.1 inch display, Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GBs of storage. No word on pricing for the keyboard dock, but for a $400 Honeycomb tablet, who wants to stand in line with me?

Update: Aaaand, it's gone, at least for now.

That's a good price. Curious what the dock will show up at. I've read rumors that it'll be $50 all the way up to $150.

Also read some rumors the ssd upgrades will be $50 to 32GB.

Even at $150, it would be a steal for the whole package.

        couldn't agree more

Love where the tablets are going now. If no others are announced/released. It is between this and Toshiba when it is released this summer.

  • Nathan

my only issue is that i wish it was smaller. 10.1 with a huge bezel. But for the price i'm not going to complain much.

Honestly though, if the reviews are good, probably pick this up ASAP for that amazing price. and then possibly pick up a smaller tablet later if i can't get used to the size. in which this one will go to my dad.

      lol
I wanted it to be 12.1" like the Win7 tablet they just released. 10" actually seems like a no-mans land to me. Smaller or larger. . . but that's me and my eyesight could be better ;)

lol me too man, i want my screen to be the size of printer paper lol

    • xploited

damn, I want one now! :(

Best Buy mentions a "4 in 1 card reader" that does not exist and fails to mention that, just like the Xoom, the card slot won't be working until a future system update.

  • Jaime

Thats some serious EEE-sex. Bezel is huge, but I'm going to keep an eye out for this to replace my Nook

  • Dan

Epic, even if I have to pay $600 for the 32gb version with the keyboard, that is still a way better deal than the Xoom. Plus I refuse to reward Motorola with my purchase after their policy regarding boot loaders.

    • hldc1

Agreed. A $600 package (32GB + keyboard dock) would definitely be reasonable.

Looking uber sexy. Just a bitch that I may have to soon give up my unadulterated and free tethering on my T-Mobile Nexus One. Paying twice for data (i.e., Verizon) is downright criminal. As a Wi-Fi device, I'm definitely looking forward to taking this thing for a spin. At least it's got a more creation-friendly setup, unlike the free iPad I got a few months back. I still don't understand the folks that claim the iPhone/iPad keyboard is the best thing since sliced bread. HTC's keyboard, as well as the stock Gingerbread keyboard, are much better.

Oh well. Looking forward to Honeycomb goodness.

I wish the commercials would reflect the real practicality of the devices. And people wonder why some consumers are disappointed with android.

If i didnt already own a Galaxy Tab id be in the market for sure. I just dont think the ibuyers will be happy.

Confirmed price in uk is £379 for tablet only plus £50 for the keyboard. This looks like the device for me, will be testing one on Wednesday for definite!

Any details on screen quality and battery? (The two most expensive things in phones/tablets)

    • http://trueacu.com acupunc

The screen is an HD IPS. From the videos I've seen it looks great. Think of the iPad with an HD screen ;)

      Battery:
      Tablet is around 9.5 hours
+Dock gets you around 16 hours

Of course those are continuous numbers.

Best Buy source link is now a 404. :( Might've been a mistake! $400 for that bundle is a steal though - I'd definitely go for it, especially since Asus is known for their hardware quality.

    • SiliconAddict

Doubtful. Too much detail to be a mistake.
Most likely they pulled an Apple: Release a glimpse to get people worked up for the release in the form of a woops my bad.

      • http://www.focuszonedevelopment.com/ Aaron

Yeah, but how many "oops" posts have we seen about other high-profile products (I'm looking at you, Xoom and Thunderbolt) where the details (whether hardware specs or price) were drastically different from the leaked piece vs. the final product?

I guess my pessimist's "too good to be true" sense is just tingling.

  • Brian

16 hour battery with the keyboard

  • brad

Webs page is now gone when I click the link to best buy.

  • BMcCartney

I saw the add for the Transformer earlier and now Bestbuy took it down. Hope this deal isn't too good to be true. If I can get something comparable to the Motorola Xoom for $200 cheaper, I'm all for it.

  • Elvis

Price seems right... they need some kind of edge or everyone will keep buying those fruity female products!

  • Patrick

After watching this I actually want to buy it. After watching the Motorola Xoom commercial I was thinking this is so pretentious and never once thought, hmmm I'd like to buy this.

  • Socal

Anybody have any updates as to when the Assus will be available. I'm a few weeks from making a tablet purchase for my birthday.

  • AndroidUK

Asus Transformer goes on sale in US and Canada on April 26th.
