There's been no shortage of leaks involving the Xperia Play, but Sony Ericsson hasn't said a single word on the matter... until now, that is. A new event was just posted on the company's Facebook page, and guess what it's related to:

That's right - expect an official announcement of the Xperia Play on February 13 (the day Mobile World Congress kicks off) at 1:00 p.m. EST / 10:00 a.m. PST. Can't wait? Check out the (now official) commercial for the device - not only is it super creepy; its description confirms that the phone will ship with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Looks like we won't have to wait much longer for the "PlayStation Phone" - who's excited?

YESSSSSSSSSSSS! I'm excited. I'm reading reports for an April release! I hope so. It might be just me but I think the Xperia Play will do phenomenally well. There is also the ARC and the NEO, so I'm thinking the PLAY sits in between, the ARC being the high end device and the NEO the low end, so hopefully pricing is not over priced for the PLAY.

I was looking at getting a 3DS just for the 3D but I feel for now that it has no real depth, sure it might look cool, but what do you actually do with it? It's just a DS with a 3D screen isn't it? Not to rag on Ninty, the 3DS will sell very very well too, but I want the PSPhone! I mean Xperia Play!

WOW! This is awesome!!! Sony can use Linux for their little handle held but they revoke the ability to install it on the PS3.

    Irony much?
