You didn't think Toshiba would let Motorola take jabs at Apple without throwing one of its own, did you?

image

Motorola called the iPad a giant iPhone back in December

Remember the Toshiba Tablet teaser site we found yesterday? Here is what happens when you visit it from an iOS device:

image

Such a Shame.

Add this to the list of the interesting places on the internet you can't see on your device. Of course, if you had a Toshiba Tablet you would enjoy the entire internet. Yep, Flash sites too.

Nicely done, Toshiba, besides the fact that, you know, nobody has the said Toshiba Tablet because it hasn't been released or even given a name yet. Nonetheless, we appreciate the effort (just add that missing comma, capitalize "internet," and you'll be golden).

Awesome! I'm really loving the attitude to bullying the bully, come-on people step it up now!

  • MicroNix

    Absolutely love it!

  • TareX

    EPIC Win. LOVE IT.

  • James

Flash = fail. It has no place in my life - not even on the desktop. Toshiba isn't a quality compay either. Xoom ftw!

    • mangavideo

Fortunately, flash doesn't need you either so win-win situation.... ;)

      • James

No it doesn't, does it? ;)

    • Bryan

...not as big a fail as Apple and iOS.

      • James

Not quite sure what this means. An insecure fanboy feeling the need to supposedly insult someone or a troll posting on the wrong site? Hmm. Didn't think Flash was that important. What am I missing?

    • interweb troll

If flash isn't in your life might you add the "n" to "compay" or is that because you don't experience "company" with no friends and/or flash?

      • James

Whoops. Missed that. Company = corporation. Seriously though, what am I missing without Flash? It must be a big deal if I'm going to get flames for it lol...

  • http://techloaded.com Dave

    Hehe nice going toshiba

  • Eric

I'm really excited about this tablet, especially after the bombshell of a xoom price. Toshiba has treated me amazingly well in the past, and this comment is just awesome.

  • Deon

    That's hilarious

LMAO Man I LOVE my awesome Android smartphoneL LOL LOL LOL

Meh, I'm not a believer in the "capitalize Internet" convention. No good argument for it.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/author/jaroslav-stekl/ Jaroslav Stekl

Actually, "Internet" does need to be capitalized if you're referencing the Internet, aka the one that's allowing you to see this site right now. However, if you're talking about an internet, i.e. some random internetwork, it doesn't need to be capitalized. It's kind of like the difference between "God" and "god."
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_capitalization_conventions for more on this.

  • http://techjojo.com Aayush

LOL! That is awesome. Bet I would'nt have no problems on my android smartphone.

  • Joe

Tablets are toys. Why would you even conceive of not having flash on one? I actually can give you a few reasons. However given that it is a toy it eliminates 99% of the web. That means only the really dumb people buy them. I'm not a fan of Adobe's proprietary formats though (Flash specs are only partly free) so unless you are buying the device consciously because it doesn't support it you are stupid. However if you bought it because of that you are still stupid. Apple is more proprietary than Adobe. They support lots of other non-free formats. They've even developed them. Apple's "we don't support non-standard non-open formats" is bogus. They are also releasing non-free software. And by free I mean freedom. You can still charge for free software and those who buy free software are not stupid. No. You buy free software because things like support, some say in future product developments, and other things come with that purchase. Not to mention ethics.

  • Your Daddy

Eh, you guys are a bunch of idiots for continuing to support Flash in any format on any device. Its bloat-ware and very insecure. IF you knew anything about IT security, which btw most IT professionals have no concept of - yes i'm talking to you engineers and you programmers - smug as you are, how often I have to beat you idiots with a stick over poor security practices is beyond me. So Android OS has Flash which from my personal experiance on those devices does not work half the time.

And smart move Toshiba, alienating over 160 million users with cash money to buy your gear. Instead of showing why your device is better - all you show is smugness and ignorance.

Good luck with this craptoid bs.

    • ingen

+1, making web sites that doesnt adhere to proper web standards is so 1998. Fuck Flash

    • SiliconAddict

No its an industry standard at this point. You are obviously an i Tard. Only iTards are willing to give up functionality because they think their Lord and master Steve "the Douche" Jobs is always right.
The man is an outright liar, and yet you beleive everything he says. No one ways bitching about Flash until Unkie Steve throws a temper tantrum. And says it suck battery life. Well yes it does. On Macs. guess what. Apple has never worked with Adobe to make their wares work well on a Mac so they throw a tantrum and scream down with Flash. Meanwhile Flash works fine on PC. Its the foundation of http://www.kongregate.com which has a HUGE number of fun games. But hey. Lets ignore that. Because Unkie Steve is ALWAYS right. Lets ignore an industry standard.
Do the world a favor and grow a brain. Think for yourself, think different, and stop letting Apple do the thinking for you. M'kay?

      • James

Really? Just because Steve says something doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Talk about warped views. Do I care about Flash? Um, no. People can dislike stuff on their own basis, not because someone said so. Apple HAS worked with Adobe on Flash. Don't spew false accusations.
Oh, btw - no need to bash a tech great. It's just sad if you think that. Don't be brainswashed. It would do you good to step away from your hate. How is Steve a liar? He's way more innovative than the likes of Google, Microsoft or anyone else. Hating doesn't get you anywhere. M'kay?

      • Your Daddy

Em, no you are the fan boy. Are you some how denying the endless security flaws in Flash? Are you denying it is a resource hog? Are you saying we shouldn't move forward to a long over due new web standard (ie html5) that supports video, animation etc? You obviously no nothing about IT security if you continue to support Flash on any platform.

And fyi, flash doesnt work on Android more often than not. And to deny the battery drain is just ignorance.

  • rogerology

The list of corrections (add missing comma and capitalize "internet" ) needs to have this added: It should be "list of interesting places" , instead of "of the interesting places".

  • Jon

    iPhones for iDiots

  • Grammar Nazi

I like how you want to ding them for grammar, yet in your "46 best (and 2 WTF) apps..." column you say this:

    "Songbird for Android Beta:
Sonbird is a popular Mozilla-owned music player, and now it has an Android beta."

Did you forget how to spell Songbird that quick? lulz.

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Heh, thanks. In my defense, it's a misprint whereas Toshiba folks meant to write what they did that way. Also, it's a lot easier to sneak in a misprint into a large post than into a single paragraph that you will be showing to thousands of people on your corporate site, but hey - an error is an error, and I thank you for bringing it to my attention.
