The 4th and final new device that I got to demo today at Verizon's 4G LTE event and the one I am personally most excited about was the Motorola Droid Bionic, announced yesterday. The reason I liked it so much was, of course, the fact that the other 3 phones that were introduced on Verizon - LG Revolution, Samsung i510, and HTC Thunderbolt - are all single core, while the Droid Bionic packs 2 cores in a really impressive package. Check it out:

  • Dual-core 1GHz processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4.3" qHD display (960x540 px)
  • 8MP camera
  • 1.3MP front-facing camera
  • 4G LTE
  • Android 2.2 "Froyo" with the toned down version of Motoblur, similar to Droid X
  • 1600 mAh battery
  • HDMI output capable of 1080P
  • Skype video calling
  • Google instead of Bing (finally)

The Droid Bionic should be arriving in Q2 of 2011.

Now have a look at the quick demo video and the photos that I managed to snap after the press event:

Movies will look extra-good with that extra widescreen real estate... Ditto for the Atrix.

Will have to start downloading better than DVDrip quality movies...

    • John J

And by DVDrip, you mean that you already own a legal copy of the movie, right? ;)

  • This sucks

First the Droid Bionic has only half the RAM that the AT&T Atrix has, then it has no laptop dock, and now, it doesn't even have the battery that the Atrix has (1950 mAh). Looks like Verizon allowed itself to be made second fiddle to AT&T's Atrix.

    • James

No kidding. But the Atrix has Motoblur, and that's a serious negative for me.

      • Balthazar B

And you think the Bionic won't???!!
I think VzW dropped the ball with the whole lineup they introduced at CES (of phones, anyway -- the Xoom looks like a decent tablet), and let AT&T get the upper hand with devices over the next 6 months at least. Pretty sad...

    • Raptor007

The Atrix needs the extra memory to run two different OS platforms. The laptop dock isn't just a connector it has its own OS. Webdoc is certainly going to suck up resources and memory to run so they can have it.

Lol. We are comparing phones that aren't even out yet. Its very kewl though.

where the hell are all of the sprint phone phones? i want an EVO4g2 with 1 GHZ dual core 1GHZ ram 16GB internel storage(32GB microSD upgradable) 4.3 superduper amoled display a kickstand and a dedicated camera button.is that too much to asked?? make it so HTC.

    • James

That DOES sound like a bit too much to ask for. I don't think HTC has a dual-core in the cards just yet.

    • Deon

You know what... you have an interesting point. Everything I've seen is Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. It's been relatively quiet on the Sprint front.

  • Bateluer

Will this have a locked boot loader like other Moto phones or was that part of the OMAP SoCs?

    • Kane

I don't think these reps will tell us. The only way to find out is to wait till the hackers get one of them.

      • Bateluer

Great, no getting in line to pre-order one.
