While Notion Ink's website for the amazing Adam tablet revealed a whole bunch of drool-worthy specs when it launched on Monday, one thing it didn't reveal was the Adam's release date... at least not directly. You see, it turns out that the release date (or something related to it, like a preorder launch, anyways) was hiding in the upper right corner all along, albeit in binary form:

XDA-developers, who originally leaked details on the phone under the codename HTC Knight, have now provided more information on this bad boy, now known as HTC EVO Shift 4G (model number PG06100). Most of these specs aren't too surprising, but do leave a lot of room for questions:

    • Android 2.2
    • Sliding QWERTY Keyboard
    • 3.7″ Screen
    • 800Mhz Processor or 1Ghz Dual Core Snapdragon according to a different source
    • 512MB RAM
    • 5 MP Camera or 8 MP according to a different source
    • Sprint 4G

Assuming the 800 MHz processor and 5 MP camera are correct, then this is almost definitely Sprint's ...

T-Mobile is claiming that they have the largest "4G" network in the country, and they must be pretty serious about defending that title - they've just rolled out their HSPA+ network, theoretically capable of download speeds of 21Mbps, to these eight areas:

    • Detroit, Michigan
    • Grand Junction, Colorado
    • Harlingen, Texas
    • Lafayette and South Bend, Indiana
    • Montgomery, Alabama
    • Roanoke-Lynchburg, Virginia
    • Youngstown, Ohio

These were all listed on T-Mobile's 4G coverage map as "coming soon", so if you're still on that list, T-Mobile is probably already working to cover you. After all, they're still planning on covering 200 million people by the end ...

Alternative browser Skyfire made waves with a previous update that allowed it to play Flash videos on any device, and the latest update to version 3 has even more features that most other browsers are lacking - built-in Facebook integration, notably similar to recently released PC/Mac browser RockMelt.

In addition to aforementioned ability to play Flash videos, Skyfire now includes the following social features:

    • Popular Content
instantly see what content on the site is most popular with your friends and the Facebook community
    • Fireplace Feed Reader
nothing but the links from your Facebook feed. Simple and addictive

A new vulnerability that affects every Android device currently on the market was discovered and published today by Thomas Cannon, an information and security researcher. The hole in the way the Android browser treats Javascript allows a remote attacker to lure an unsuspecting victim to a malicious web page, which then downloads and executes rogue Javascript with access to the local SD card's file system. While the locations of files on the SD card needs to be known by the attacker in advance, it still represents a clear problem due to many popular applications storing data in the same location. ...

Whenever a game as polished as Slice It! comes out, you pretty much have no choice but to download and try it out - Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja are great examples of such games, and Slice It! from Com2Us does not disappoint. Not to be confused with Fruit Ninja-like games where you have to slice fruit in the air, in Slice It!, you have to divide various shapes into equal sizes in order to advance. Similar to Angry Birds, star ratings are given at the end of each level. My first impressions after seeing the graphics and the UI ...

Taiwanese consumer electronics giant Acer is having a global press conference in New York right now, and they just wrapped up the hardware portion of the event. In its wake are three new Android devices to lust over. Rather than forcing you to go with one size only, Acer has an attractive trio to choose from.

First up was a 10-incher, powered by a 1GHz Tegra II. The device will run Google's "Android Tablet OS" (Honeycomb?) with a custom Acer UI, but was demoed running Froyo. In a nice change from the norm, it has a WXGA (1280x800) ...

A pair of images circulated around the tech blogosphere this morning, showing what are purported to be the first glimpses of Motorola's now legendary Olympus, aka "Terminator", device. The Tegra 2 handset appears to take plenty of design cues from the newly-reviewed Defy, matching the rugged phone's rounded corners and flush capacitive buttons.

This is quite the departure from the unashamedly square design of Motorola's previous Droid iterations, but bears striking resemblance to a certain Nexus S. Both also share an uncanny likeness with the iPhone 4, but the less said about that the better.

As far as social gaming networks go, OpenFeint's really been a huge hit - according to the company, OpenFeint-enabled games have been downloaded over eight million times in their first 60 days. Additionally, the network has seen some 1.6 million Android devices visiting from 176 different countries. As impressive as that is, interest in OpenFeint isn't dying - far from it, as today marks the launch of eight OpenFeint-enabled games, some new and some getting OpenFeint capabilities:

    • Jet Car Stunts by True Axis
    • MUST.EAT.BIRDS by Mediatonic
    • Solipskier by Mikengreg
    • Frogger by Konami Digital Entertainment

We all knew it was coming - Full Tilt Poker Rush Mobile, the first real money poker game on Android, has finally hit the Android Market, and is available for devices running Froyo, due to the Flash 10.1 requirement. The app still bears a beta sticker, so be careful with those hard earned greens of yours. Obviously, it goes without saying that you should also find a stable connection, preferably WiFi, unless you want to fold every hand you get disconnected from.

Wait a minute, "What is this Rush poker?" you may ask. I'll let FullTiltPoker explain:

Today, a T-Mobile representative emailed us about a big holiday BOGO (buy one, get one free) Black Friday promotion the company is launching this holiday season. This promotion will feature all Android smartphones, the Galaxy Tab, as well as WP7 devices, although it's worth pointing out that the Tab unfortunately does not qualify as one of the free devices.

The BOGO is good for all T-Mobile family plans, including Even More and legacy customers who activate two or more lines, and for those who upgrade at least one eligible line.

The deal will start November 26th and will last well ...

According to multiple sources, Acer is planning a special event tomorrow in New York to announce three tablets - one 5-inch (not much is known about it), one 7-inch (is expected to run Android 2.2), and a 10-inch (is expected to run Windows 7). Acer showed off a tablet several months back with a front-facing keyboard with a 7-inch screen; there's a good chance this is the same product but with some revisions.

The 7-inch tablet looks somewhat like a Kindle, mostly because of the front-facing physical keyboard, and could possibly be launching sometime before Christmas. It was also rumored ...

Ever grow bored of the stock Android transitions?  Well, if you're like me and you have, take a quick look at the brilliant work done by XDA-Developers forum member Magnus Ragnar.  Magnus has found a way for developers to build custom transitions into their ROMs. I should warn you that this is not for the feint of heart, and it goes without saying that your device needs to be rooted. Take a look at the video below to check out some of the sweet custom transitions and visit the source link for the full breakdown along with detailed instructions....
