The MIUI ROM is definitely one of those things you'll either love or hate, but judging by the waves the arrival of the latest version of the mod has been causing, the community (or at least most of it) is of the former opinion. And rightly so, if you ask me - the ROM is now even faster, features user-creatable (and downloadable) themes, and pinch-to-zoom on homescreens, among many other additions. While it still has a detectable iPhone aroma about it, it's arguably worth it, if for no other reason than the fact that its system animations zip along at 60 FPS, which is more than three times higher than those of a stock Nexus One. It's rolling out OTA-style for the Nexus One, HTC Desire, and Motorola Milestone as you read this, so feel free to check out the video and the changelog (thanks, ShrimpCrackers!) below while you're waiting for it to come to your device.

    • 60 FPS system animations versus 17 FPS on the stock rom on a Nexus One

    • Built-in integrated system-wide theme support

    • Folders can now be placed in the main launcher bar

    • Individual folders now have the option to sort by your custom order, frequency of use, and by name.

    • Pinch to zoom out to the home-screen overviews

    • Super pretty music player with visualization, lockscreen integration, and lyrics support

    • Most beautiful weather widget and app with new weather effects including sandstorms and hail

    • SMS theme support

    • Built in CPU power management

    • Expanded power controls in the notification bar

Not yet; I'm sure there will be one soon.

  • Nick

Like I told Leo, there isn't an English vrsion of this new update yet, although there are English translations of past versions available at that XDA post you linked to as well as at miui-dev.com. The wait goes on.... :)

Nice, but *far* too iPhonesque for me I'm afraid :-(

    • max

Yes its exactly like the iphone. I agree with you. But it has android apps and widgets so I personally think its better. But thats completely based on personal opinion :)

  • Ben

I tried it and liked the smoothness, but it reminds me too much of an iPhone, which was a deal breaker for me. If they came out with vanilla android, I'd be all over it.

    • pedrodog

It may have an IPhone look and feel but its all Android underneath and IMO Android +MIUI= kickass rom
