Wow, what a day today for Verizon's Samsung Fascinate! When it was introduced for $199 on a contract, Verizon threw in a 2-for-1 deal, making the price $99.99 if you buy 2.

Shortly after, Wirefly and Amazon Wireless both dropped the price to $99.99, making it a great deal for those who need only 1 Fascinate.

Today, the price war got serious. Really serious.

  • Amazon Wireless is now selling the Fascinate to new accounts at exactly $0.01, which is a penny over absolutely free.
  • Wirefly in response lowered their price to $9.99 for new accounts and $29.99 for adding new lines to family plans.

Both retailers don't charge any taxes and ship free (Amazon ships using 2-day shipping, while Wirefly uses ground).

Judging by similar penny deals for the Vibrant and Captivate, these deal will not last long and the prices will jump back up to $100.

If you are looking to buy the Fascinate, there has never been a better time and probably won't be for a while once the deals are done for.

This is how the Android OS is going to be more prevalent than iOS - cross-carrier availability at varying price points.

although from everything i have heard the fascinate, removed everything Google.... Honestly if your going to sell a phone with an os made by a company it seems very silly not include those services...

Thanks. FWIW I've ordered from Wirefly via standard shipping and it was send via FedEx 2-day -- no ground. Very quick and reliable. I prefer to order from somebody who has an actual phone number where I can talk to a real live person if I have problems.
