CyanogenMod RC3 for Droid is now available on RomManager for those interested. Download Rom=>CyanogenMod=>RC3

When selecting GApps it will download the new package including newest versions of all apps (like new Gmail) as well as the new VoiceSearch and ChromeToPhone.

If you're having problems getting/applying it with RomManager, clear you download cache (menu->clear dl cache) and try again. Sometimes downloads get corrupt if your data connection drops out during download.

Great job Koush, #teamdouche, and any other CM Devs. We're all thankful.

If you’re already running CM6, you should definitely update this as soon as you can. You’ll find some bug fixes, performance tweaks, and new features, such as a customizable Power Control widget.

Thank you. Updated with Droid Inc RC3 (they didn't post it to cyanogenmod forums - instead Koush posted on xda).

So I started with stock, flashed to the OTA Leak (dated 8/2), then decided to try Skyraider 2.5.2 today. Didn't notice any major diffs. So I'm not sure if I should try this one--I don't want to keep flashing ROM's if they all offer about the same stuff.
What exactly does this have to offer that the leaked OTA's/Skyraider don't have?

    • Michael

CyanogenMod doesn’t include any HTC Sense elements (UI, widgets, apps). Unlike Skyraider, it is built off of the original source Android code from Google.

It is definitely a different experience than the OTA/Skyraider. I personally prefer it and highly recommend trying.

With nandroid backups being so easy, I guess it's worth a shot.
I don't use the sense home (I use Launcher Pro) but I do like some of the other integration aspects offered by the Sense framework (e.g. facebook/people sync). We'll see how it goes.
        Thanks for the response.

        • Michael

I don't use the Sense home either. I find it to be a complete waste of space. ADW.Launcher is what I used instead and also what CyanogenMod packs in by default.

Regarding Facebook integration, the Android Facebook app can now sync contacts to your phone if you like that integration. This is similar to how the official Twitter app works as well.

The one downside that I find with CyanogenMod is that it currently cannot recognize the internal storage that many Android phones are shipping with now. I'm not sure if this will change in the future but if you rely on that storage, it may create problems.

so what i am reading is that if I downloaded the original ota flash from HTC 2.2 installed I can flash with this new rom. Ive been waitng to root my phone but Ive been reading that it wasnt possible if I had upgraded on 8-2 via the automatic updates on the phone.
Sorry new at this just trying to learn.

    • Kasey

It IS possible but the rooting process for MT3GS is a LOT harder than it is for other phones.
