A common complaint leveled against Android is that it’s too technical or too difficult to use. This is especially the case when it comes to hacking around on your phone. While the command line may be the interface of choice for some Android users, it’s not exactly the most user friendly of solutions. Enter one-click rooting, something that iPhone jailbreakers should already be familiar with. One click. Can’t get easier than that, right? All it takes is downloading a simple Windows application, a click of a button, and BOOM (to use an Apple phrase) you’re all SuperUser-y.

For those of you who consider use of a computer beneath you, there is still a solution. Newly-released to the Android Market is a one-click method that executes on the phone itself. That’s right, just install the application and hit “ROOT ME!”, and you’re done. The only drawback with this method is that it isn’t free, but 99c is surely worth that convenience, right?

Unfortunately the Droid X’s bootloader has not yet been unlocked, so there’s no custom ROMs out for it right now. However, there are still plenty of benefits to rooting, like easy screenshot taking or changing the CPU speed to save battery.
