CyanogenMod users rejoice: Cyanogen and the CM team are continuing to work feverishly to get CyanogenMod 6 into official release territory.

CyanogenMod 6 Release Candidate 2 ROMs for the Nexus One (and unofficially, the Droid), Dream, Magic, G1, and the MyTouch 3G are now available for download, along with Release Candidate 1 for the HTC EVO 4G.

Nexus One/Droid

Nexus One Instructions:

INSTRUCTIONS:
- First time flashing CM 6 to your Nexus (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock/root your device and install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager or Amon_RA's recovery image
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Update your radio if necessary
4. WIPE
5. Install the ROM
5. Optionally install the Google Addon
- Upgrading from earlier CM6?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. Install the ROM (your Google apps will be backed up automatically)
HOW TO REPORT BUGS OR PROBLEMS?
- Was it a hard reboot? Get me the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
- Was it a soft reboot or a "boot loop"? Run "adb logcat" and get me the full output.

HTC EVO 4G

All of these releases are available on Clockwork ROM Manager (see our review here) as well (select manually, “Check For Updates” doesn’t seem to work).

Visually, there isn’t much difference in these releases as compared to previous versions of CyanogenMod 6. That said, I have noticed (so far) the following user-interface changes:

• Lockscreen music controls (in CyanogenMod settings)
• Update to ADW Launcher 1.0.1
• Reboot/Power off prompt toggle (in CyanogenMod settings)
• APN (3G/EDGE data) toggle on power control widget

No up-to-date change log is yet available, though one will certainly emerge fairly soon. This release has probably focused on fixing bugs, improving performance, and increasing efficiency - things which are not readily apparent after a few minutes of use. As more information about what RC2 (and RC1 for the EVO) is all about comes to light, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
