I had it easy with my defy, there is an app called milestone overclock which can boost me up to 1200MhZ. No custom rom/ kernel mod.

For a root virgin, this was an amazing read, meaning the article and the comments section. I had a bit of hacking experience as I dug pretty far into my Wii, replacing nearly all of the original IOS's, but this Android stuff is actually way more advanced. I agree... wireless tether is awesome; and Internet feels snappier when on wire as opposed to wireless, IMHO.
Readers should be aware, however, that wired tether requires kernel support too; not just a rooted phone. Most custom ROMs already have it built in, but some stock ROMs (i.e. Droid Incredible) don't. So if it doesn't work for you, your kernel probably doesn't have support compiled for it.

I understand your point of view. However, I discovered that my phone got a bit "slow" so I started to check into what might cause the problem. And with Android System Info I discovered that these adverts boost CPU from 20% to about 60-65%. So if it comes down to CPU or Adverts, the choice is simple
I can not under stand why displaying an advert would eat that much CPU, but until it doesn't I'll go with AdFree. Because it stoped the CPU from hit the roof.
Don't take me wrong. I don't mind those Adverts, I understand why they are there, but not on these terms.

i love Root Uninstaller.
You can remove every system app on your phone ore freeze it for safety.
you can remove/freeze system apps like a manually downloaded app.
