Good news for the battery-hurting EVO 4G users - the next update might be able to fix some issues that were causing excessive battery drain, among other things.
Here is a quick 3-point update, rumored to arrive on June 28th:
- Improvements to Wi-Fi performance
- Exchange Active Sync improvements which include a fix to issue including new account set up, PIN policy usage, and Exchange Server 2010 Calendar Sync
- Addresses Social Networking Sync issue with Facebook application which can improve battery performance
The rumor comes from one of BGR's Sprint connections and is unconfirmed at the moment, but we will certainly welcome it.
Whether this update will bring 802.11n capabilities, which were recently unlocked on the EVO by changing just a few lines of code, is unknown, but we can certainly hope it's an easy enough change for HTC to tack it on.
We will post more info when it comes in.

I don't see the facebook fix realistically doing much to save battery life - although every little bit helps.
I also don't see 802.11n officially coming in this update, either. =(
If the FB sync had a bug, it could cause oversync'ing, and that could prevent the phone from sleeping properly, as well as just use too much battery to sync. I hope it's drastic enough to notice.
I have a feeling syncing issues are the #1 reason evos have such bad battery life (I base this on the fact that with background data disabled, and syncing off, I can get almost a full 2 days on the evo, and with them on, and my only use being occasional texting im lucky to get 6 hours.
