I've had the EVO 4G for the last 2 weeks, and now it's your turn - the phone goes on sale everywhere today, with some stores opening their doors as early as 6am.

Here is AndroidPolice's EVO 4G coverage of the last few weeks:

Reviews

Problems

We've identified a serious issue with the EVO which could result in requiring you to restart the phone periodically to gain access back to the SD card and even data corruption. It has been picked up all around the web and hopefully will be addressed by Sprint today:

Other Coverage

There are more articles in the EVO 4G category - new owners, feel free to browse it around.

And now it's your turn. Are you picking this bad boy up today? Share your initial impressions and reviews here in the comments!

I have had my EVO for about 3 hours now and I love it. Coming from a G1 I was afraid I would miss the physical keyboard but with this huge screen the virtual keyboard is perfect. Android is really fast with this processor and I am enjoying my first taste of the Sense UI.

So far I have no complaints and nothing but praise for this phone. I'm loving it!

HTC and Sprint have ruined a very nice and advanced piece of hardware.

The bloatware on this thing is at shameful levels. From the HTC Sense launcher (which can be disabled) and the related deep customization (which can NOT be disabled) to the Sprint Apps (NASCAR... Really? I can't uninstall this?).

    Do not buy.

U MUST BE A IPHONE USER.. LMAO

        @jr
        Nope :)

I'm a huge Android supporter, in fact. In fact that's exactly why I hate to see it so poorly "customized" by HTC and Sprint.

No he is a Verizon Rep bcuz I removed my NASCAR app perfectly fine. Also the customization is awesome since every level can be changed. Sorry the incredible is a lesser product... Sense UI is great as well on mine maybe you either cannot figure out the device or u dont own one haha

Actually, you can't remove those apps unless you root, and on the EVO you can't even with root, at least for the moment.

There are several pre-loaded apps that I have no intention of using but that's not a deal breaker for me. This one of those things where you should know what you are getting when you buy it. Sprint has long been known to heavily customize their mobile experience. They are trying to push consumers to alternate revenue streams. I understand that. The great thing about this is that I don't have to tap the icon if I don't want to.

Besides, if it is really that important to you to have a base android experience then you can always root the phone and change to your heart's content.

Way to go Sprint/Best Buy for leaving some of us out to dry today...had a 9am appt. at BB to pick up my EVO and the poor BB staff had to put up with down computers and dropped calls to Sprint to activate my phone. So, I am still waiting and it is almost noon Pacific time...hope it isn't a bad harbinger, I left Sprint years ago - will I regret going back??? Hats off to Christina at our BB in Menifee CA, great effort under pressure put on her by Sprint/BB.

I cant believe Sprint! I was on the waiting list at my local Sprint store and was told to show up at 8 am this morning to pick up my EVO. When the Sprint rep started processing my upgrade and found out my account was a "business account" he said he could not proceed with the upgrade and refused to sell me the phone. There was a district manager in the store that also refused to sell me the phone and explained that it had to be ordered for business customers and wont be able to pick up the phone until Monday. What a shame!!! I am soooooooooo disappointed with Sprint right now I could puke!

you should have gone to your local radio shack. No problems, no lines, in and out with the pre order.

Bloat...whah... best buy problems...go to a real sprint store. The phone is rock.

Why gameloft doesn't support htc evo?

  • Kuba

Ok, I got my Evo, now how do I easily find a list of must have apps?

I love the speed of this thing, its amazing. Sprint's 3G network where I am at only gave me .6 MBs download, so I'm anxiously waiting for an upgrade.

Love the phone, hate the service. Can't get more than ONE bar for phone calls in my own house. Can't get videos to load. Looks like I'm heading back to T-mobile. Service was great, phones are less than interesting, but at least I'll be able to make a call.
