It is just a hassle and I won't use google checkout anymore. The downside is now I can't buy any apps!!

I had google checkout charge me for items I did not purchase last year (Not android items) So now to allow me to use the checkout I have to upload documents proving who I am.. Admittedly, you must use a credit card or a debit card. Also, it only supports sellers in 10 countries or so. That said, it's a pretty large market of consumers that have credit and debit cards. It's not stellar but it's really not bad either.

But actually consumers from more than 100 countries can use Checkout to buy apps. There are only a short number of countries with access to paid applications and games currently. Google has been notoriously slow on adding more countries to the list as well.
This gives developers a viable solution to reaching all countries that have access to free applications and games within the Android market to sell their products through in-app purchasing by offering a demo version or limited version of a particular app and allowing the user to have the option to buy the full version even though they have no access to the paid applications in the android market.

The problem with Google's current setup is due to the lack of audience it's reaching. The Android Marketplace uses the Google Checkout infrastructure to accept payments. Checkout is just a wallet that allows you to make payment with your credit or debit card and with carrier billing. 90% of all online purchases are made with one of these payment instruments. What's the problem?

So I'm confused about the frustration over payment for Android applications.
