Last Updated: June 4th, 2010

Yesterday I posted my review and hands-on results with lots of photos made by HTC EVO 4G’s 8MP camera, and today I was finally able to finish uploading the 720P HD videos from the same period of time during my visit to Paris (damn you, slow French WiFi!).

As before, I’ll start with some details and thoughts and end with the videos themselves. Switch the Youtube player to the 720P mode if you want to see them at max quality.

Camera Details And Performance

I was very excited to finally own a device that can take HD…

Our friends over at Engadget have published a kick ass guide on how to take advantage of Froyo’s cloud to device messenger capability. You may recall the demonstration during the Android keynote at Google I/O, where they pushed directions to their phone from Google Maps with the click of a button. Well, someone hacked together a quick app and accompanying Chrome and Firefox extensions that will allow you to do the same.

You’re not just limited to pushing directions though – as of right now you can also push URL’s and YouTube links. Every item you push…

gameloft drm policy

Well it seems the huge outcry over Gameloft’s DRM policy has not fallen on deaf ears as they have announced a change to their DRM policy. The change states that users are now allowed to re-download games purchased through their website, thought this may take some time to implement.

Here is a quote of the official announcement:

We’d like to announce you[sic] that policy regarding Android HD+ games sold through our own store is currently changed to allow you to re-download a game that you paid for.

Unfortunately this change will take a bit of time but

This article mentions rooting and the flashing of non-stock roms. If you’re unfamiliar with either term, hit up our primers here and here for additional information

I’m not sure what Google was expecting, but when you give a phone out to a room of hackers, chances are the phones going to be hacked. First, we saw the EVO get rooted shortly after I/O and now it seems Froyo has been ported over as well. All this before the phone’s even hit the store shelves.

The details haven’t been publicly released yet as hacker ‘

With so many Twitter clients available for Android, it’s hard to decide which one best suits you. Although I don’t think that there’s a ‘best’ Twitter app on Android, because different applications excel in different areas, I’ve selected five of, what I believe to be, the best clients available right now. Each app is available on the Market for free, with some offering ‘Pro’ versions too.

Touiteur (Free, Pro Version Available for €1,99)

If you manage to spell it correctly when searching in the Market (which I failed to do several times), Touiteur is well worth…

Over the last week, during my visit to Paris, I’ve been using both my regular camera and the EVO 4G I got at Google I/O for taking shots and videos of the beautiful French capital.

So what kind of pictures can you expect from the EVO, which has an 8MP camera and a dual LED flash? Just click on the images below to find out.

Camera Details And Performance

The performance of the camera during the day far exceeded my expectations - the pictures come out very sharp and crisp, for a mobile phone camera – it…

Is HTC EVO 4G About To Be Shipped With A Massive Defect In The Included 8GB MicroSD Card?

Last Updated: June 1st, 2010

Google and Sprint might have a big problem on their hands, as the EVO 4G, coming out in less than a week on June 4th, seems to have a serious defect in the included internal storage department.

Update 6/1/2010: I have terrible news. While on vacation in France (and therefore unable to swap out the SD card for another), I have today spent a whole day in Monaco and Monte Carlo which ended up being my favorite little places in all of France and its surroundings.

After taking a myriad of breathtaking and irreplaceable pictures and videos

Looking to ditch your Behold II for something a bit more upgradable(hopefully)? Well, it seems Walmart has you covered then.

 2010-05-29 21h46_47

Apparently, tasty Android phones aren’t exempt from Walmart’s infamous roll backs, and they’re now offering the T-Mobile MyTouch Slide for $129.99 with a new 2 year contract – that’s $70 off the price that T-Mobile is offering.

For a mid-range Android handset that’s not a bad price, especially if you’re dying to having a QWERTY keyboard, but, for me at least, the decision becomes a bit more difficult when you consider the EVO…

Fragmentation is often brought up as one of Android’s bigger flaws, and despite Google’s promises, it doesn’t look like it will be going away any time soon. Google has said that Froyo is supposed to help bridge the gap between OS versions, and help stem fragmentation, but I haven’t been able to track down exactly how that’s supposed to happen.

Not that any of that matters for owners of the Samsung Behold II – it doesn’t look like they’ll be seeing anything past 1.6, let alone version 2.2. Much to the chagrin of Behold II owners…

Update, May 29th, 7PM CST: Qik have updated their company blog and have cleared up the situation. Basically, the core Qik experience, meaning streaming from your EVO 4G to Qik, and the 2-way video chat will be FREE. Apparently, the subscription charge will be for “some advanced premium features” that they are working on. They’ll have an announcement on June 4th with additional details on these features.

The fees just keep on coming. On top of the $10 per month “you own an EVO fee” and the somewhat more reasonable $29.99 per…
