We just got word that the long awaited Samsung Moment 2.1 update ROM was leaked and is available for your flashing pleasures. Android Police seems to be the first Android blog to break the news.

Head over to this SDX-Developers.com forum post to download it. Here is the ROM download link, in case the forum goes down.

SDX forum members have tested the ROM out and found it working, with the exception of some of them not being able to log into the Market. A phone reset reportedly fixes this problem. Of course, proceed at your own risk.

The leaked ROM comes after Sprint earlier this week reportedly began internal testing of Android 2.1 on the Moment by releasing it to some of its employees.

Here is the ROM information from the leak:

About Phone:
firmware version: 2.1-update1
baseband version: s:m900.8.os.dd03
kernel version: 2.6.29
build number: elcair.dd03

Update: here is a video of Moment with Android 2.1 and some live wallpaper action:

Man, this is great news, though requires resetting the phone I think. Those sick of 1.5 might just do it.

If you read a little in the 1.5 section, there are recovery methods available, so you can save your system state from 1.5, in case this leaked 2.1 is not your thing. doing a backup of the /data saves all your apps and settings, its great!
